Can't click anything using Remote Desktop with Quest 3

Remote Desktop connects OK and I see the monitors, but when the pointer or hand tracker hovers over the screen, overlay buttons pop up and nothing can be clicked on the monitor. Can't launch anything, can only switch monitors, change resolution or disconnect. Am I missing a step?

    Thank you for getting back to us! After looking into with with some of our app specialists, it looks like the behavior you're seeing is normal and expected. As a Remote Display, the app is a "one-way" view of your computer's display. The only way to interact with or launch computer programs would be as normal on your computer. The Remote Display only allows you to view what's happening on your PC, and can't receive Quest controller input onto your PC- that functionality remains exclusive to Quest or Air Link.     • What troubleshooting steps have you attempted so far?
    • Has it worked before?
    • How long have you been experiencing this issue? 

    Once we have this information, we can continue troubleshooting this issue.

      I rebooted pc and headset, no luck. I have never successfully used Remote Desktop but I would like to.

    It is a pretty useless application to be fair. Virtual Desktop still seems the best solution you can view your desktop and totally interact with it.

      No, it doesn't.  IT says, "Use your computer"   You can't do squat with this.  Just want to pile onto the list here ab0ut how disappointed I am a frustrated that I wasted my time installing and trying to use this vaporware, which is b the way, updated all the time, yest i not updated to make it as functional as described, and nowhere in the documentation is it made clear that is not an interactive application, which, in my 40 years of experience directly in IT makes not NOT Remote Desktop.  Unless you see, usually after pulling you hair out trying to fix it, that is say "Streaming"

      Meta marketing BS.

    And unfortunately it kind of makes it a useless app. it’s not even “remote“ desktop at that point. They should just rename the app virtual display. And even then it’s pointless why would I stare at grainy 720 P footage if I could look at my beautiful 4K monitor if I’m forced to go sit at my computer

      Just lies for the sake of it. There is no competition at 299$ why lie? 

      299 for a vr that doesn't do remote pc is not a deal breaker WHY LIE?!

       

      Just like passthrough... Nobody does passthrough yet, why say you can with a standalone and show non-passthrough video.

    It takes some skill to develop such a pointless app. I spent ages trying to figure out why the controllers don't work.

      completely agree. "Remote Desktop" has existed for almost 30 years. And here goes another huge company trying to change the meaning of words. There should be a class action. Either that or change is name to "Virtual Display"

    This is a great shortcoming of the Meta Remote Desktop and I find it a bit odd that this went through your design/dev process without people asking why the controllers or fingers cant act as an input device on the remote desktop screen, but only mouse and keyboards? Here is hoping you at one point also support that in this application as it is possibly the main reason for why many choose other solutions.

      Exactly - it's particularly notable because other applications do this very well, particularly virtual desktop. I'd love to be able to use fingers and VR pen to use the computer.

    They should call it something like Desktop Viewer, naming it Remote Desktop is quite misleading.

      I have to remove my Meta Horizon Link in order to install Remote Desktop. Its weird tho ...

    No podrás usar el mouse con los punteros. Solo se puede transmitir lo que sucede en tu computadora. Te recomiendo que sigas usando tu laptop con el teclado y mouse físicos, pero con las META QUEST puestas, ya que la experiencia sigue siendo inmersiva, con varias pantallas en modo mixto.
