can't pair Quest 3 with meta app on phone

My iPhone app says it found the headset, but the headset does not display the 5 digit code needed to complete the pairing. Instead my Quest 3 only offers the accounts that already are already set up in it. I have updated both the Quest 3 software and my iPhone Meta app, and restarted the headset twice to no effect.

We know it's no fun to not be able to use our devices to their full capacity so we would love to help getting this issue resolved for you. Open the Quest mobile app on your iPhone device, navigate to the point the app request for the 5 digit code to pair the headset.

     

    • Place on the headset
    • Go to settings
    • About
    • Pairing code will be listed
    • Place the number in the Mobile app

    We've seen these steps help people out in the past with the same issue you're having. We're hoping that they will do the same for you.

    However, if you're still having trouble after trying those steps, please don't hesitate to reach back out and let us know. We'll also be here if you have any other questions or concerns.

      Hi, I am having the same issue. But in the new versions of Settings, the About page is missing. Where do I code the code in the new system (v69 in my case) ?

      Hi,

      Yes. The pairing does not work. No 5 digit number appears anywhere in the headset.
      But nor can I add the new elbooter account to the Quest 3. I got the error message that it was part of another account (apparently my Facebook and/or Instagram accounts) probably, I'm guessing because it used the same email address.
      So I replaced the email I listed for this elbooter account on the Meta website, then tried again, both to pair the headset and add a my new elbooter Meta Horizon account on the Quest 3. No luck. When I go into settings on the Quest 3, it only offers me the choice of adding a Facebook or Instagram account, the very thing I thought it was struggling with. At this point, I'm dead in the water because I should not be using the other accounts on the Quest 3. I need my game avatars to be associated with this new elbooter account. Very frustrating.

  • I'm having the same problem, here's the easiest solution, Meta make it so that it pops up as a notification over layed over anything like those annoying social media notification. come on your facebook? sort it out basic coding

  • Im also having the same problem. I've tried factory resetting my quest 3s ive got my bluetooth and location on and im connected to the same internet for my phone and headset but it just isn't working. And the about page is missing.

  • I am having the same issue. I was able to pair with my Android phone (it also did not show the code in the headset, but was able to get it connected). However, after creating a new profile and trying to pair with my daughter's iPhone I see the same issue that has been described. Headset is found in the Meta Horizon app on the phone, no code appears in the headset. I found the Pairing Code in the About section, but when that is entered in the app I receive a "Something went wrong" message. Does anyone have a solution?

        I am also having the same problem. I’ve done everything up to the pairing code in the about section but it saying that it’s having trouble pairing even after the correct code has been put in. 

  • Wondering if anyone managed to get this resolved, have the exact same issue. Pairing code is available in the settings “about” section, however when adding device (which is visible and found in the app) I keep getting the “something went wrong” response?

      The resolution was the primary profile can be associated with the Meta Horizon app and pair. We just worked around it. In the end if it's annoying enough we'll do a reset and set it up differently for our family from the beginning. I find this to be slightly annoying, but I guess it's just how it's designed.

        Thanks for the response. So in summary, even though you can have 3 profiles on a Meta Quest, you can only cast to the main Meta Quest account/app? Seems a poor flaw for such an expensive product and being limited to only 1 user.
