Controller Update Stuck at 0% forever

I just got the Meta Quest Pro controllers for my Quest 3 and the firmware update has been stuck at 0% for about 30 minutes. I have tried restarting my headset, clearing up storage space, restarting the controllers, and unpairing and attempting the update through the Meta Quest mobile app. This issue happens on both v79 and v81. Has anyone else experienced this or has suggestions to get the update to start? Thanks in advance.

  • Hi TMTime 🙂

    Sadly, it's a very common issue...look:

  • I’m on the quest 2 and I tend to use the Pro controllers as well. But I’ve ran into the issue of being stuck on firmware updates for the controllers that are stuck at 0% and never complete. I don’t know what causes this, but all I know is after factory resetting the controllers and re pairing them it STILL doesn’t work. Dunno why, but it’d be nice if there was a way to opt out of updates or go to previous versions that we know still function properly.

      Hello AquaDarkSkull !

Thank you for reaching out, and we’re sorry to hear you’re experiencing trouble with your Meta Quest Touch Pro Controllers. We understand how frustrating it can be when updates don’t go through as expected, and we appreciate you taking the time to share the steps you’ve already tried.

In some cases, firmware updates may stall due to network-related issues, particularly if your wireless router is operating on DFS (Dynamic Frequency Selection) channels. These channels can interfere with Wi-Fi performance, leading to latency and throughput problems that may prevent updates from completing.

Recommended Workaround: We suggest checking your router settings and disabling DFS channels if they’re currently enabled. Specifically, try avoiding channels numbered 50–68 and 96–144, as these are known to cause performance degradation in certain use cases involving Meta Quest devices.

      Additionally, please ensure:

Your headset is fully charged and connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.

Your controllers are paired correctly and within range of the headset.

You’ve restarted both the headset and controllers after adjusting your router settings.
