Deleting photos and videos persisting on the mobile app

How do I delete photos?  There's no trash icon or ... menu to select.

    You now have the option to unsync photos from your phone app!

    Thanks to the latest update on the phone app, you can easily open your gallery, browse through your pictures and videos, and delete them directly from the cloud using a convenient delete from cloud button.

    If you're still unable to delete your media, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the phone app completely or check if your phone is up to date.

    Guys, it finally happened. I checked the meta app a few seconds ago, it's now possible to delete the content from the meta cloud. Just select the remove from cloud icon on top.

      It's a step in the right direction.. The lack of bulk delete sucks though which you would think would have been very easy addition when adding that button too. Luckily I didn't have lot of pictures that needed deleting but for those who might have hundreds.. It's not going to be fun for them.
      And I'm not sure if the image is actually getting deleted or not because the wording Meta uses is: "You won't see this image in Meta Quest-app". There is no actual mention of the deletion of the image.

    A delete button is needed on the quest mobile app for videos and pictures. Please reference example below to see why.

    I wanted to delete a picture on my quest 3 photo album, I then accidentally clicked delete only on oculus quest 3 and didn’t click “unsync and delete” when I tried deleting the picture and now my picture is stuck on my mobile app without being able to remove it. It’s gone and deleted on my quest 3 device but still on my mobile app. There is no option to remove that file from the mobile app in this scenario. 

    I have heard people for over a year still complaining about it, real question is where does that data go if it’s gone on my quest 3 device but still on the app with no ability to remove it from the app. 

    please fix

      It remains on Meta’s servers, even though you can’t see it yourself.

    I figured out my issue. Meta Support was no help. What I did was launch the Meta Quest App on my iPhone, select "Menu" from the bottom right, select the "Gallery" section, and opened the file(s) in question. Finally select the cloud icon on the top (see attached screenshot) and unsync. My unwanted photos and videos are now permanently gone. Please let me know if this works for everyone or not. Thanks.       This is how Meta expects you to do it, but if you format your device or delete the image without doing that unsync, it's stuck in the cloud god knows how long which is the issue here.
      While your suggestion might help some, for most of us, it's as useful tip as anything Meta Quest support has given us, basically completely useless.

        Yeah Tomarapenguin, that was Meta Support's recommendation to me too, which is ridiculous. It's unfortunate my tip wasn't useful for you, but rather completely useless. Hopefully it did help some and that's all I really care about is communicating my efforts. It is what it is. Good luck to you. K~

      Not sure and no way to test as mine are now gone after waiting the 14 days but it wasn't the Gallery that was the problem, It was recent Video's or pics that are not in the Gallery but on their server that you could not remove and were there as soon as you opened the App.

    You cannot delete them. once they're there it's permanent. That's the way they have it set up, you can only delete it off the headset. They do not obviously care enough to add a delete button for your privacy. The best thing you can do is recommend to others not to purchase a unit, until they fix this. Go to Every gaming forum and every place it sells The Meta Quest, meta quest 2 or meta quest 3 and post bad reviews about the unit and what they're doing. " tell people it's full of bugs, its not reliable. it's not a lie"

        The only thing I can suggest for everybody is do what I am doing, I am going to every gaming web forum out there and anybody that sells the meda quest 3 and warning them not to purchase a unit due to the fact that you cannot delete screenshots, pictures, downloads ,Etc from their cloud servers but you can delete it from the headset. This is in my opinion very wrong and they deserve what they get. But overall I love the unit, Google at least allows you to remove stuff from their servers after all it is yours and it's meant for backup not for them to hoard your information and who knows what they're doing with it, I would assume probably selling it to China LOL

    Is there a final resolution to deleting unwanted media from the Quest Meta App (I deleted from Quest 3 device not Deleted and unsync, which was a BIG mistake on my part) on a mobile device? K~

      Not to my knowledge .. I un-synced totally and just waited the 14 \ 15 days for my stuff to be auto removed from their server. Until its sorted i wont be syncing again.

      So if that's the only solution and everyone has to do it then I'm not so sure its a win for Meta.

        Did not work for me. Data is unsynched and still available in the cloud since November. Meta is clearly not interested in this topic.
