Hi everyone, I need technical advice. My Right Controller disconnected and I can't get it back.

Quest 2 Right Controller flashes SOS (3 times) then dies. Won't enter pairing mode.

Hi everyone, I need technical advice. My Right Controller disconnected and I can't get it back.

The Symptoms:
- I unpaired it from the app to try and reset it.
- Now, when I insert a battery, the LED blinks white 3 times and then shuts off completely.
- Buttons are unresponsive. Holding Oculus + B does nothing (no light).

Troubleshooting steps I have ALREADY taken:
1. Batteries: Swapped from generic heavy duty to brand new Energizer Alkaline.
2. Swap Test: Took the working battery from my Left Controller (which works perfectly) and put it in the Right one. Result: Still just 3 blinks and dead.
3. Foil Trick: Used aluminum foil to ensure contact with the positive terminal. No change.
4. Force Reset: Held down buttons for 1+ minute while inserting battery. No response.

Is the "3 blinks on battery insertion" a code for hardware failure/short circuit? I want to avoid opening the hardware/RMA if possible. Is there any obscure "revive" trick I haven't tried?

Thanks!

No, every controller says "here I am" by three blinks and a little vibration when you put in a battery. Your left controller should do exactly the same.

You can try if powercycling the controller by removing the battery for more than 15 min and insert it again can help.

Thanks for the info. You mentioned that it should blink and vibrate. In my case, the LED blinks 3 times, but there is absolutely NO vibration/haptic feedback.

Does the lack of vibration confirm a hardware failure? Or should it function even without the vibration?

Somebody - who knows much more about defective Quest controllers than me🙃 -  told me this:

It could be a glitch or low power of data due to tarnish on the ribbon cable connectors. To clean that, you must partially dismantle the controller.

If you want try that..... Fix my Oculus has good videos on his chanel how to to that.

Well, since the LED can actually blink, then battery power is not your issue 🤷‍♂️. Have you tried restarting the headset (hold the power button for 30 seconds for a hard reboot) then re-pairing the controller using the mobile app? Make sure the headset and controller are on the same wifi. Select your headset in the app, Headset settings->Controllers, unpair the controller if necessary, then 'Pair new controller'.
