Horizon link not working

Rift S static noise beep then reset?? Its not your cord, Its dodgey updates corrupting your files and software. Had 3 rift s's do the same thing on the same machine. every new one i got would work fine until a few updates later then the static noise beep and reset would start again on occasion then start to get more frequent with time until it starts to happen too frequently that its unusable. What i did with my 4th rift s was block all connections to oculus dash and client through windows firewall to stop the updates and guess what! No issues for 1 year and a half until all of a sudden i see a **bleep** notification of a Meta update. The bastards bypassed that too and right after that update, the beeps and resets started to happen aaall over again. Just got a new PC and the 4th oculus rift with the same cord that started to beep and reset on my old PC all of a sudden doesn't have the problem anymore like freakin magic. Want to keep this Rift S alive so everytime before i connect to the internet or anything now i always disable anything to do with oculus through task manager. Rift S cord is fine no problems. Updates are dodgey from these bastards. They don't even support the Rift s anymore so if you want to keep your headset healthy, block these bastards and their updates hahah no more beeps and reset. Screw Meta lol i ain't ever gonna buy your quest 3. If anything I'll go Pico next one.

My new PC confirms this. The 4th rift s that started beeping and resetting on my old PC all of a sudden doesn't have the problem anymore like freakin magic. I can confirm it wasn't my old PCs USB ports either because whenever i got a new Rift S, it would always work fine on that PC until a few months and updates later. So now before i go online with WIFI or anything i always disable anything Meta related through task manager. Thanks to this technique they cant touch my Rift S trying to make me get a quest. I'll just play UEVR offline with it. Ain't never getting a quest assholes, i'm goin Pico next headset. Lil shneaky dodgey updates cant reach my Rift now suckerbergs

For those of you still having problems connecting headset to PC just install latest update in the headset using wifi.

I just got an update for the Link software and now it's working. It still shows the same software version but now it works after the update.

The fact this many of us are having this issue is 100% BS. Does Meta not test these patches before they create such ridiculous issues? I haven't touched my headset in two days and I thought it was something on my end. I even thought my Pupis SI router for air link stopped working. Patch this up immediately meta!

According to ChatGPT this is a temporary fix and it's best to unblock dash.exe if and when Meta fix this bug. Alternatively it can remain blocked to protect privacy and also stop automatic downloads (could this mean link app that often causes problems) - however is this without risk of future problems with DASH?

i saw others saying that if you go into windows firewall and make a rule blocking outgoing connections for "[yourdrive]:\Oculus\Support\oculus-dash\dash\bin\OculusDash.exe", it works without you having to turn off your entire internet connection
