How to pair quest 2 to multiple phones

Doesn't make sense that the quest 2 can have multiple accounts logged in but cannot be paired with multiple devices. It is absolutely a big "F- you" to its customers and terribly lazy marketing ploy to get people to buy more quest 2 - but wait, the quest 2 isn't even in stock regularly.

So Meta's solution to how can my wife stream to the tv whenever I'm away is to do a factory reset each time.

Btw when I'm trying to pair her account, maybe a little message like "hey you can't do that because it's paired with another device" instead of just sitting there endlessly trying to connect causing me to spend an hour of research trying to troubleshoot

It seems some Quest 2 owners are claiming that in the past it was possible to have the same headset connected to 2 phones simultaneously, but now that is no longer possible.

I can believe this, as it is the Meta Quest app that does nothing if you enter the 6 digit code you can see for the headset and that is already used in a connection. Since the app is now called Meta Quest, presumably it was called Oculus Quest before, perhaps there was a "feature" that was removed in some update in the last 12 months?

I assume a hard reset of the headset would remove the connected phone, even if you no longer have that phone?

The "solution" to the OP given by Meta is that it is not possible, but I'd like to know whether it is a technical impossibility, which seems unlikely if older versions of the app and/or firmware allowed it, or a conscious business decision by Meta, in which case, as a Meta customer, I'd like to know the reasoning.

I've added my wife and child as secondary accounts so I can share my library with them, now I want them to be able to connect their phones to the headset so they can perform some actions, such as Cast their VR sessions or use their phones as a Keyboard in VR, without me needing to be home.

We're not talking about full functionality of the primary account, which allows changes to the PIN, account settings, payment methods or installing updates. Just a very small subset that still requires pairing/linking to the headset.

I got a new phone and no longer have the one I initially paired with my oculus do I have to do a factory reset to pair my new phone this seems ridiculous that you would expect a factory reset when upgrading phones. Please tell me this is not the case

I would like an answer to this question as well, I plan on getting a new phone. Will I have to reset the Oculus just to pair it to my new phone? If so that is outrageous....

I put the app on an old broken phone I didn't care about just to get through the setup quicker. didn't realize at the time how poor of a choice that was. tried pairing my quest with my actual real phone for casting and now I'm here and disappointed. there's no reason I shouldn't be able to cast to anything I want. Meta has such a bad scene of direction when it comes to the openness of their hardware, and it will catch up with them in the market eventually. Literally as soon as someone figures out how to wipe the OS and replace with with Linux, I'll do it.
