Initial Setup

I received a new refurbished Quest 3 headset. The first time I use it, the display asks me to remove the protective tabs from the controllers to activate the batteries. But since I'm using the old controllers, they don't have these protective tabs, I can't skip this step and the screen won't move on to the next step. I tried to activate each button, but the screen stays frozen on the image asking me to remove the tabs. How can I move on to the next setup step? Thank you for your help.
