issue with adding accounts

i've been a vr user for 4 years now. i own 6 meta quest headsets all that work well with the exception of one unit. the unit will not allow me to add other accounts, will not allow the app sharing button to slide to the on position and strangely, it does not show-up on the meta.com/settings/my/device/ page. i've had problems with this thing not working properly since it was purchased. i have factory reset this headset 50 times or more since it was new and it has never worked properly.  meta support is difficult to deal with as it is "staffed" with bots. i am certain this is a server side error and can't get any help from the meta people. anyone else have similiar issues, and how did you resolve them ? although i actually own 9 meta quest units, i'm seriously considering the steam platform going forward. meta support is something less that awful, as i've had other unresolved issues in the past. i really like the direction meta quest is going now but i don't think i can afford to continue investing in new equipment because i can't get support. has anyone had issues with adding profiles, app sharing not being allowed, the headset being wifi connected and blutooth connected but the unit and serial # no showing up on the meta.com/settings/my/devices/ page ??

  • thanks again, i think i'll rethink sending one to them. i still have the out of the box broken charging port unit, i think i might send them that one.

i'll fill you in on how it goes.....

i've done mine 15 - 20 times over the past 5 weeks it has been down, didn't work. i'm not sure if you researched the error codes, but they all indicate a server side error.

i own several quest units, and i've had these server side issues with 2 of them making them absolutely useless.....very frustrating and expensive !!

sorry about the rant, but if i do happen to hear from the "service team" i'll share what i learn from them.

You need to chat with live support (don't choose the email option!). If it feels like you are stuck in a loop with bots, ask them politely to escalate the issue to a specialist team. That should get you out of the loop.

thanks steve for the input, however i've already been down this avenue.....i was "escalated" to a "senior service team"......still haven't heard a word from them.

my meta quest 3 (actually 2 of them) has been down for over a month now with zero help from the meta "support" team.

owning 9 meta quest units over the past 3 years, i was definitely a meta quest supporter, however i think with the lack of support and repair options, i'm considering making a change. i've really been thinking about steam vr. some of my team members have moved to steam and really like it, who knows if their support is any better but, maybe i'll give them a try.

i learned recently too, that meta has no in or out of warranty repair services leaving no option to repair after the 1st year.

with the poor support and no option for repairs, it almost seems like meta quest, baby diapers and bic lighters all have one thing in common.....all three are "disposable" !!

thanks again for the input, maybe they'll reach-out some day and help resolve this server side error.

You won't get a repair under warranty, only a refurbished replacement. If you are out of warranty and live in USA, try Fix my Oculus for repairs.
