Left controller wont update

So My left controller wont update,  went through everything as per these forums and other help.   Seems like its a pretty common issue.

Anyway I contacted customer support who stated that as the unit is out of warranty I will need to buy a new one and said i could get a refurbished one for 49.99.     I reluctantly agreed to this as what choice do I have but I wanted to make a complaint as I have not broken anything its clearly a known issue with the software.

Anyway so I pay £49.99 and then I get another email stating that I have to send the old one back which was not mentioned at all.

What a total scam.

So now I have to wait roughly 20 days in total to get a replacement that only has 90 days warranty that is more than likely some previous poor persons controller that they had to send back as it wouldnt update that meta have fixed at the press of a button.    What an absolute racket .......oh and apparently there is no way to complain no email address , no physical address.   I am just directed by CS to write on this forum.
