Link fails to connect, wired and wireless

I'm on 2.3, I tried with PTC enabled and disabled, both for headset and link client. I was able to get into link temporarily after disabling headset PTC, but after restarting my computer, back to the same issue. Clicking the link button in the headset starts connecting, then my pc makes the cable connect/disconnect sound, and it kicks me back to passthrough with the error that my headset is incompatible with the software version of my link software. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the link software twice now, and updated to PTC just in case, there should be no compatibility issues. I've tried different cables, I've factory reset my headset. I've tried wireless vs wired, and I get the same result.

I'm having a similar issue to this.  I connect my Quest 3 to my PC using the official Link Cable and it'll connect and work just fine until I go into a PC VR game.  The game will play for a couple minutes, and then the game will freeze in the headset and only display on my PC screen.  But when I go to my computer and Quest 3 headset settings, it says the Link Cable is not connected.  I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting the cable and it doesn't want to re-link.  But if I reset my computer and try it again, it will do the same thing with working and then disconnecting about 2 mins into a PC VR game.  I've tried other cables and it's the same issue.  This is a new computer so I can't figure out why this won't work.

  • I don't have this issue with either my Q3 or QPro using the latest non-beta v85 (2.1) updates.  I avoid using PTC unless there is a critical update, which hasn't been the case for +1yrs now.

I suggest you not only opt out of your headset PTC, but then do a factory reset.  After that, opt out of meta-link pc app PCT and restart your PC after doing this.  Good luck mate and cheers.

  • I'm on link version 85.0.0.239.552
    Windows 11
    Using quest 3 version 2.1.1034
I get the usb connected notifcation in headset and I click on enable link and get stuck on the meta loading screen. I know that was a previous known issue that I though was resolved

and get stuck on the meta loading screen

That's usually caused by having two conflicting GPUs on your laptop or PC. Disable the lower-spec integrated GPU if you have one:

      • Open Device Manager > Device Adapters
      • Right click on the Integrated Graphic Unit > Disable Unit
      • Restart your computer and headset and try Link again

The other reason is usually an outdated GPU driver, so make sure your driver is up to date.

Also, if you have a 5xxx series GPU (such as RTX 5060 Ti), the fix is to use the Oculus Debug Tool to disable Asynchronous Spacewarp:

      • Open the Oculus Debug Tool (C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics\OculusDebugTool.exe). Or (C:\Program Files\Meta Horizon\Support\oculus-diagnostics\OculusDebugTool.exe).
      • Locate "(PC) Asynchronous Spacewarp".
      • Change it from "Auto" to "Disabled."
      • Go to the top menu: Service > Restart Oculus Service.
