Sorry for reviving a slightly older comment, but I have the exact same bug, but with the Quest 2. I'm assuming it's an issue with the App and not the headset.

Thanks for reaching out about the issue you're having with casting to your iPad. What we've taken from this post is that when you connect your device to the Meta Horizons app and select cast, it crashes and looks like a software problem. There is a couple of things you can try to fix this yourselves, please see below:If using the app follow these steps:
- Try log out and log back in again.
- Delete the app and reinstall to ensure you're on the latest version. (or check for software updates)
- Ensure your device is compatible: IOS 15.1 or later / Android 5.0 or later.
Additional notes:
- Your phone must be connected to Wi-Fi and have Bluetooth turned on to use the Meta Horizon mobile app to set up your Meta Quest.
- If you install the Meta Horizon mobile app on an unsupported device, you may experience issues setting up your headset.
- After completing the initial activation of your headset using the Meta Horizon mobile app, you'll be able to finish setting up your headset in VR.
