After downloading the meta quest link, I try to log in to my account, but I get an error that says "Something went wrong."
This may be due to a technical error that we are working to fix. You can try continuing in another way or try again later. - MetaStoreHelpCommunity Manager
Hi SnoWwyYT
We understand just how important it is to be able to get your PC and headset connected in order to explore the wonders of the Metaverse and so we would love to advise on the issue you're experiencing.
Based on the error you have advised receiving there is a chance that the meta quest link application you have downloaded could have ben damaged or corrupted as it was being installed and so we recommend performing a repair on the app.
In order to repair the Quest Link app please follow the steps below:
- Go through the link we have provided here for you and click Download software.
- Select Repair.
- If Windows asks you if you are sure you want to open this file, click Yes.
- If Windows Defender prompts Windows protected your PC, click More info, and then click Run anyway.
- If your antivirus software restricts the file from opening, temporarily disable your AV and continue.
- Please remember to re-enable your antivirus software once you have completed the repair.
- Allow the repair process to run, download and install.
- Launch the Meta Quest Link app.
Once you complete the repair if you find that your issue persists we would then recommend reaching out to us by selecting our name to get to our profile page then click send a message so we can then look further into this for you to get to the root of the issue!

Hey robert.denny
We're now going to provide you with the next steps to manually uninstall / reinstall the Meta Quest Link App. Again, please follow the steps in order to minimize future issues. (Post 2/2)Remove any Oculus folders from the following locations:
- C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData
- C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Local
- C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\LocalLow
- C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Roaming
- C:\OculusSetup-DownloadCache
- Note: The AppData folder is usually hidden. Use these steps to access AppData.
- Press Windows key + R to launch the Run dialog window.
- Type %AppData% in the Run box and click OK or press Enter.
- File Explorer will launch to the AppData\Roaming subfolder.
- Click AppData in the File Explorer address bar to show all three subfolders in the AppData location.
- Restart your computer in normal mode.
- Reconnect your computer to the internet.
- Install the Meta Quest Link app again using the setup tool from our website.
- Reconnect the Rift/Link cable and re-test the headset
If after these steps, an issue persists, it is likely not an issue with the Meta Quest Link app itself. This will mean we will need to take a closer look and we would require you to contact us privately, we will provide you with steps on how to do that below:
- Please select our name to get to our profile page, or click here: Community Support.
- Next, click "Send a Message" to privately message us!
- Please remember, you must be signed into the community first to send us a private message.
We hope this solves your issue, if it doesn't, follow the steps above and we'll be happy to help further!

I sorted this, I use Adaware and I think it was blocking a DNS request, as soon as I disabled any Ad blocking, I was able to sign in. Thanks for your help!

Hey there robert.denny!
We'd love to assist you with fixing your Oculus Rift with the Meta Quest Link App. We can see that some troubleshooting steps on repairing the app have already been given on August 26th.
We're going to split these steps up into 2 separate posts due to how much information there will be. If you need assistance at any point we're happy to take this conversation privately to review your account more. More information about how to contact us privately will be listed on the second post that will come through a few moments after this one.
This is a method for uninstalling the Meta Quest Link app to ensure all relevant data has been removed from the computer. The normal uninstaller may not remove a file that is causing problems, so this is like a "factory reset" for the Meta Quest Link app.- Disconnect the Rift/Link cable from the computer.
- Disconnect your computer from the internet.
- Backup any necessary content.
- Learn how to back up your content in our Help Center.
- Reboot your computer into Safe Mode.
- Learn how on this page.
- Uninstall the Meta Quest Link app using the Control Panel.
- Learn how on this page.
- Delete all Oculus folders from the folder C:\Program Files.
When going through these steps, please ensure you are following them in order as if you miss a step the uninstall/reinstall may not complete correctly.
