meta quest/oculus stuck at "update 1 of 2 completed, continue setup in the meta quest app"

I purchased a second-hand Oculus - which, according to ChatGPT, is now called the Meta Quest 2?

It's stuck in a cycle and not moving forward to allow me to use it. I downloaded Meta Horizon and connected the headset to my account. In the headset, it says " update 1 of 2 complete, continue in the meta quest app"

However, the app doesn't appear to advance it. If I tap my device in the app, there's an option to tap "continue setup," but when I do, it repeats the pairing process and nothing changes or updates.

i tried to use your support site to fix the problem myself but when it asks for my serial number, i put it in but it says the device is not recognised

    I actually replied to you in another thread..... so I just paste my answer to you in your thread again😁

    I guess you have the Oculus Quest 1, not the Quest 2.

    The set up of the Q1 doesn't work with the recent version of the Meta Horizon phone(Android) app.

    The easiest way to set it up is using an Iphone, if have one or if you can borrow one just for the set up.

    For Android you'll need an older version of the app.... the solution in the following link describes what you must do and includes a link to an older version.

    Meta support doesnt't recognize my Oculus Quest (1st gen) serial number so I cannot get help. | Meta Community Forums - 1274215

    The app will probably tell you to update.... you must skip that.

    Unfortunately, on some phones the skip button isn't visible and can't be used. 🙁

    If thats the case, use a tablet for the set up.

    A friend recently set up a Quest 1  with an Android tablet using version 257.0.0.16.106 The next/continue buttons here were also almost hidden at bottom of the page, but he was able to use them.

  • If Choleni​  is right about you having the Oculus Quest 1 I think that is the reason why putting the serial number into the website doesn’t work because Oculus or Meta whatever you want to call them, stopped offering support for the device.  (Aleast to my knowledge they ended support)

      MaxGabriel1219​ yes, the support ended, there are no updates to the Quest 1 anymore.

      But the headsets are still working..... and people with a Quest 1 have the advantage, that they still can enjoy the old home environments🙃, which were completely wiped and exchanged with the immersive home on younger Quests.

        they can also enjoy the old horizon avatars, and I don’t know how meta screwed up this bad my my immersive home got screwed up so now it just takes me to the home environment it shows right after you set up your headset which is just some empty baseplate with a weird background
