My Airlink audio isn't working

It's just like my audio completely disappeared. I was playing games with the audio just fine like a week ago and searched all about this when it stopped working, and nothing works. My audio for my computer is Headphones (Oculus Virtual Audio Device) and it's at half volume and "Hear computer audio in VR" is on. I tried going to the control sound panel thing on my computer and nothing seems to work, idk whats happening but this needs to be fixed

  • i found this

"The problem seems to be caused by sound device driver.

According to this tweet from Japanese guy, you can fix it pretty easily.

    1. Make sure you have v14 PTC software installed on your PC and v13 firmware on your Quest
    2. Open up "Sound" menu from Windows Control panel, and then search "Oculus Virtual Audio Device" from "Playback" tab.
    3. Hit the "Properties" button and change the device name as "Headphones"
    4. Click "Apply" button. Now you should be good to go! :)"

Does your audio work if you use headphones plugged in the Quest headset? I am trying to see if your headset speakers are bad?

If you play a game straight from the headset (not using AirLink), does the audio work?

Hi everyone! We know audio is a very important aspect in truly feeling immersed in your VR gameplay, so we want to lend a helping hand. You can find in our public support article regarding Air Link best practices and known issues: to recover audio, reboot the headset and relaunch Air Link.

We hope this resource is of some assistance to you all, so you can get back to fully enjoying PCVR.

  • I had same problem, Here is how you fix it , on pc go to settings , sound , on top right click sound control panel , scroll down until you see “oculus virtual audio device” double click it, box will pop up on the bottom you’ll see Device usage it’ will be disabled , click it enable it click apply … then go to recording section on top and do the exact same thing .. everything will work … since it’s disabled that’s why it’s not showing up in your pc under regular sound settings as a option anymore .. you have to go to control panel .. it just disables randomly some times ,, just do this if it happens again , you’re welcome enjoy

Hey there, Cheesycrispers. We noticed you're having trouble with your audio, is this issue happening to your device when you are using it standalone as well or just while using Air link? If you haven't already, please make sure your GPU drivers are fully updated and attempt to run a repair on your Quest software.

If anyone else is still having this problem...I spent two days working on it until I realized it isn't a hardware or sound device problem. It's a problem with the Remote Display (Beta) software. I have yet to resolve the no sound issue using that app. But other computer connection software, like Immersed has no issues with sound. I hope this helps you help others.
