My quest 2 will connect, but won’t allow internet.

I came home from a trip hoping to play vr, but when I try to connect to the WiFi it says connected and can’t provide internet. I check the settings it says i have excellent signal strength. I tried my hotspot and it won’t provide internet either, so I know something wrong with my headset. I went to look on the forums and it said I should cloud backup my stuff and factory reset my headset, but it won’t let cloud backup without internet. What should I do?

  • That's a dilemma. If you haven't tried the following yet, give it a go. It's a reset but not factory so won't erase your data. Good luck 🤞

    To restart your headset:

    1. With your headset on and powered on, press and hold the power button until you see the Power off screen.
    2. Select Restart. Your headset will turn off and then turn back on.

If your headset is unresponsive or you're otherwise unable to restart your headset, you can do a force restart:

    1. Press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds.
    2. Wait 30 seconds.
    3. If your headset doesn't automatically turn back on, press the power button until your headset turns back on.

Sadly it did not work, but thank you for trying to help.

Ah, that's a pity. A full factory reset might be your only option, but maybe with your previous cloud backups you might'nt lose to much data.  Best of luck !

  • Have you tried turning your router and headset off then back on?

Have you tried changing the name of your WiFi network? Your SSID?

I remember reading somewhere that something in one of the updates could have messed up the network stack and corrupted the connection file.

If you change the SSID and connect to the new name the Quest will recreate the connection file and everything should go back to normal.

It's worth a try, should only take a couple minutes. You can switch it right back after you test it.
