New Headset Wont Charge

I have used my Meta Quest Pro four times. It is dead and now will not charge when plugged into the factory charger.

    Hey @FrostedCrane7755 !

We came across your post and wanted to lend a helping hand in getting this issue resolved for you!

Please ensure these steps have been completed, and recommendations kept in mind:

    1. If you are using a facial interface accessory, or if the front pad cover is on the headset, please attempt to charge the headset again without the facial interface accessory or cover.
    2. Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect battery charging or discharging (such as external battery packs, external fans, etc.)
    3. Attempt to charge the headset for 2 hours.

    4. Try a different Cable/Charger if possible.
      1. Avoid using USB-A to USB-C cable to charger
      2. The Link cable is not adequate for charging the Meta Quest Pro
      3. Use the original inbox Meta charger and cable
      4. If using a 3rd party adapter, be sure the adapter is rated for 45W or greater.

    5. Try charging from a different Source (another PC or different wall outlet).
      1. A loose or intermittent wall outlet can trigger a safety feature for certain power adapters that will lock and prevent these adapters from charging until reset.
      2. To reset the adapter, unplug the power adapter from the wall, and then disconnect the USB-C cable from both the adapter and the device. Wait for 30 seconds and then reconnect the adapter to the wall.

    6. Have any liquids been spilled on the headset? Have Wet Sanitizing wipes been used to clean the eye cups of the device?

    7. Hard Reboot the headset
      • Hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound
      • If the boot-up sound is not heard:
        • Hold the power and volume (-) button down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
        • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight "Boot Device" and press the power button.
        • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

    8. If still not charging, please perform a factory reset:

What this will do is reset the device to a "like-new" state, wiping all information and data off the device.

Some of this data can be restored by enabling Cloud Backups beforehand; however, keep in mind that while Cloud Backup is available to all Meta Quest developers, it is up to developers to decide whether to enable this feature for their app and what data is backed up. You can find which installed apps have Cloud Backups enabled on the Cloud Backups page of your Meta account profile.

Once you have set up Cloud Backups, ensure your device is fully charged, then proceed with the following directions:

    1. Turn off your headset.
    2. Hold the power and volume (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
    3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.
    4. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

The device should begin the Factory Reset process. After initial setup, you can regain access to anything backed up with Cloud Backup by going into Settings and clicking on the cloud icon.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, please don't hesitate to reach out to us privately here (just make sure you're logged in!) or via email, using this link

    Have a great day!

I had the same problem. My headset was totally dead. I left it on the base overnight and it did not charge. I plugged it in for two hours and it did not charge. The power light on the headset never turned on in both attempts to charge it. I tried holding the power button down for 30 seconds and tried factory resetting but the headset didn’t respond at all.

I was able to get it to start charging when I tried the factory reset with the headset plugged in. It didn’t bring up a boot screen but it showed the dead battery indicator. After that, it took about  5 minutes for the headset to start charging normally.

Hope that helps please share what worked for you.

    Thanks!
