No sms code from meta received

Going completely insane with this

Got a Quest 3 for Christmas. Trying to login to my meta account (which I’m using fine on my Quest 2)

it says it’s sent me a 2FA auth code via sms but I receive nothing

Tried all day yesterday

emailed meta support which was useless, I got an automatic reply saying to check sms is turned on, restart phone etc… which I’ve already done and then they closed the ticket without it being resolved and I can’t reply to the email 

I’ve phoned EE but they say there is no issues with my account and no blocked numbers 

seems impossible to get any actual account support from meta and I’m sat with a £400 brick

    maybe try the chat or WhatsApp option HERE

    Support were able to solve 2FA issues for other users in the past pretty quickly.

      WOW! I have no idea how you even found that

      Spent hours on the support sections just seeing FAQ's and stupid "does this solve your problem" sections, couldn't find an actual contact method anywhere

      I've managed to get in touch over email now, they've requested my ID to deactivate SMS 2FA - I've sent my passport and now just waiting game.

      If that doesn't work I'll do the whatsapp chat, thank you!

        Actually had to do that now - 2 seperate tickets over email have now both been closed as "resolved" with absolutely nothing done to address the issue

        Whatsapp conversation just said she would merge the tickets, re-open them and try to resolve them, then closed the chat.

        I have about 2% optimism that anything will actually get fixed
        Pretty tempted to just return the quest at this point - it seems a massive step up from my quest 2 but everything Meta is an absolute **** show.

    Had the same problem. So I switched to Google Authenticator instead of them sending me a code via SMS. After that I had no problem loging in my Meta account.

      That's exactly what I want to do - I have authenticator 2FA on facebook, instagram etc... but it won't let me remove the SMS 2FA without entering a code I never get, won't let me login with a code I never get 

      Properly frustrating

      You'd think that as I can login to all my linked accounts - facebook, instagram, whatsapp - and I'm verified on all - that I'd be able to reset my own meta account lol

        I'm sorry to hear that :(. I didn't mention I did that through my Meta Horizon app on phone. Menu > Accounts centre > Password and security > Two-factor authentication > "Your account name" > Authentication app > Authentication app (toggle on). Now that I have it enabled it shows a bit different but that is pretty much how I did it. But yeah it's pretty frustrating. If you are doing that from your phone too, then I really don't know how to resolve this. Imagine all that technology and simple stuff like this does not work xD.

    Not having this issue, but plenty of other issues. how can Meta operate this bad.
