oculus virtual audio device missing

So I used oculus link with the cable and had perfectly fine audio 1 week ish ago. Well today there is no audio coming from the headset. My PC had no clue there is audio capability in the device. I do not mean the audio is disabled. I checked the disabled devices and it is not there. I re-installed everything. Forgot the quest 2 and found it again. And there is still no "oculus virtual audio device" When there was a week earlier. All I want is for my PC to find it again.

The "Learn more" Button brought me here and I do not see others with this issue. So Oculus software knows there is an issue, it just isn't helping me fix it.

  • do this c:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-drivers\oculus-driver.exe

  • Within the Last 2 months the oculous software has added a toggle to just turn off speakers and mics. This is much better than what I had to do, which was uninstall drivers and reinstall drivers prior and after every time I used the quest.

If anyone else has mic problems after using quest it is a windows issue. Windows sets the default microphone to quest in both windows settings and game bar. So if you set it back to your real mic in windows not all games will follow this setting. So check game bar if you have mic issues. Halo for example. Has this issue, when in game hit wind+g to enter game bar settings. On the left hand side of the ui there should be a window for audio. Switch the audio to inputs and select your real mic there.

  • Go to Windows Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound settings. Then right click > show deactivated devices and activate Oculus Virtual Audio.

The Above fixed my issue! Thnx! One of those, 'Doah! moments when you rc show disabled. 🙂

  • Try to re-install oculus app, if that doesn't work you could try to activate it through the sound settings.

Thanks, but actually within the Lary 2 months the oculous software has added a toggle to just turn off speakers and mics. This is much better than what I had to do, which was uninstall drivers and reinstall drivers prior and after every time I used the quest.

  • Exact same thing happened to me too and still can't find a solution for this, which sucks.

Hi there david.ku.8, having no audio to hear is never fun. We understand how important it is for you to be able to hear when in the amazing world of VR, and we want to help you all that we can on this matter!

Make sure that your software is up to date and that the volume is not muted on the device and computer. Next, check the audio input and output sources for both your headset and on your PC.

To check the audio input and output for your Meta Quest:

      1. Open the desktop app on your computer.
      2. Click Devices in the left side menu and then select your device.
      3. Below Audio Output in VR, make sure your Meta Quest is selected.

To check the audio input and output for your PC:

      1. Click the Speaker icon in the task bar in the bottom-right part of your screen.
      2. Click the ^ arrow to open a list of audio devices connected to your computer.
      3. Check that your audio and mic are both set to Oculus Virtual Audio Device.

Additionally, if you are using any third party VR software on your PC, make sure that Oculus Virtual Audio Device is set as your audio input and output source there as well.

I have the same problem. There is no Oculus Virtual Audio Device showing in Windows and it is not in hidden or disabled audio devices.

Within the link app, if I click on devices, there is no option called Audio Output in VR. There's no settings I can change and there is no audio toggle option mentioned by others.
