Quest 2 - Quest pro controllers update stuck at 0%

Hi I just got my Quest Pro controllers today and paired them to my headset (Quest 2), however I can't use them and a little pop up saying "Controller update in progress (Left 0%) (Right 0%)" keeps appearing evey 30 seconds, I left the controllers a while to update but they never progress past 0%

    Hey everyone! It seems like this was an issue for quite a few users over the past week. The good news is that we've been hearing reports of Pro controllers finally updating now! If you haven't, go ahead and try again to see if your controllers are updating and working. 

    If you're still getting stuck with your controllers not updating, please let us know!

    I rebooted headset several times and got them to update full. Still didn't get the right one to appear so rebooted again. Just to loose the left one. A new reboot and both were showing but right one got a 30 cm offset vertically and were unusable. Not giving up, though, as the tracking is marvelous in game( Alvo) but too low right habd makes shooting a guess game 🙂

      Hey there, Larry_O! We definitely understand how inconvenient it can be when the tracking isn't working as intended, we'd be glad to help out! Here's some troubleshooting to try out and see if it helps out at all with the current issue: 
       

      • While in VR, hold the controllers at eye level, pointing in front so that the cameras on the controller can see the surroundings.
      • Move the controller around slowly for the controllers to start tracking.
      • Go through the Meta Quest app and unpair/pair the controllers.
      • Restart the controller by holding down the power button (menu) for 1 to 2 seconds.
      • Try waking them up by quickly pressing the Menu buttons.
      • Try pressing and holding the Menu button for 5 to 10 seconds.
      • If the controllers re-center, then at least the controller Bluetooth is connected. This means it’s likely the controller is not tracking.
      • Try rebooting the controller by holding down the Menu button until you see the lights change.
      • If that does not work, manually pair the controller using commands:
      • To enter pairing mode on each controller, press and hold the Menu+B (right) or Menu+Y buttons (left) for 3 seconds. You'll feel a light vibration from the front trigger when the controller transitions into pairing mode.
      • You can also try a couple of button combinations to get the controllers to appear:
      • Force power off the controllers by holding down B or Y for 15 seconds.
      • Turn them back on by short pressing the Menu or Menu buttons.

        Hi support team

        I have just received my new Pro Controllers as my old Quest 2 controller stopped functioning.  I have had a nightmare day trying to find an adaptor to actually get the controllers charged and now finally have that sorted out only to find this UPDATE issue that is now happening.  The controllers have a pop up message that they need to be updated and when I select update it shows 0% progress and nothing further.  I have waited 2 months to play with my VR headset, please help me to sort this issue out!!!

    this is happening to me too :(. everything is at full battery. tried power cycling the headset and controllers multiple times and same result.

    controllers go into the pulsing purple light status and 0% progress for controller updates pop up every 10 seconds or so.

      update: i unpaired and paired again and the update worked after that!

      Would you know how to get it to update? All mine says controller update required.

        We appreciate you bringing your questions about the new quest pro remotes' update procedure to our attention. To start, we can try to make sure that the headset and the application are both running the latest recent updates. Please check your Wi-Fi connection to ensure that it is operating at its best speed as well. If these are running at their optimal capacity try factory resetting the device.

    I ran into this issue and I believe the resolution is after pairing both controllers with the quest 2, if theyre stuck on 0%, place them on the charger then restart the headset, you should see the percentage start to move. After multiple restarts, and disconnects, all it took was placing them on the charger. Make sure your headset is updated to the latest software also.

    BTW I got trhem working it just needed a dozen restarts but eventually it started working

        Thanks for the reply. I had tried that and no luck. I was able to update the headset again, and then it all worked after. I had just updated the other day and knew it was a version with Touch Pro support so I didn’t expect another.

      Heya DDAKBOMNOON. We know how having your new Meta Pro controllers not being able to connect to your headset is causing you some issues. We do want to do everything we can to get this right for you. 

       

      Would you mind trying to unpair and repair your controllers to try and fix this. You can go here to learn how to do that, if you don't  already. 

       

      After you do that, please reboot your headset with these steps. 

       

      1. Turn off your headset.
      2. Hold the power and volume (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
      3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Boot and press the power button.
      4. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

      If you are still having problems after all of that, we ask that you create a ticket on our support website. There you'll be able to speak with our support team more about this issue, and finding a way to get it fixed.

    I just got my pro controllers yesterday and spent all night trying to pair them to my quest 2. I have been getting an alert that says "Controller Firmware Update (Left 0%)(Right0%)" every five seconds. I tried restarting my headset, restarting the controllers, re-pairing them multiple times, and even factory resetting my quest 2, but the problem still remains. The controllers have a flashing purple light on them if that helps. I gave up after about 10 different attempts, and then left it overnight.

      Hey MaxxChaoss! We see that you are having issues with pairing your new Pro controllers to your Quest 2. No worries, we will make sure to get you pointed in the right direction. There has been a recent update for the Quest 2 to be able to pair with the Pro controllers. We will just need you to do the following to make sure everything is up to date:

       

      • Make sure the old controllers are unpaired.
      • Press the Meta button on your right Touch controller to pull up your universal menu.
      • Hover over the clock on the left side of the universal menu. When Quick Settings appears, select it to open the Quick Settings panel.
      • Select  Settings in the top right corner.
      • Select  System, then select  Software Update from the left menu.

      There should be an update if it has not updated already. If you are still having issues after trying this, we do recommend that you reach out to our support team. Just go here and follow the prompts as they pertain to your issue. Once you do this you will be connected with one of our specialists who will be able to go over more options with you.

        Pressing the ‘meta button’ on the right touch/pro controller does nothing because they will not update therefor are not usable, not even for the ‘meta button’. 
        ‘What is the trick to getting the controllers to update the firmware using any other means besides the pro/touch controller? Clicking the link to ‘Just go here’ doesn’t help. Considering the controllers were bought to pair with my Quest 2 and there are no options that lead to a solution on your ‘go here’ page. It’s either a quest 2 problem or a Quest Pro problem, you don’t have a click solution for a mix of the two. You might want to update the options once a solution is found so people can actually get to it. 
        ‘Why is it, Meta made a simple controller firmware update more difficult than brain surgery? I just want my $300 controllers to pair with my Quest 2 so I can use my system. It really shouldn’t be this **bleep** hard to achieve. Sorry, but I’m frustrated beyond my limit right now. This wasn’t a 20$ purchase and I’m not happy at the moment. If they aren’t working in the next couple days I’ll return them and you’ll lose a sale. Yep, I get it, not a big deal to a company as big as you are Meta, but it’s a big deal to me. I’ve tried everything. I’ve been at this since 2pm yesterday. It’s 1 am now and I’m about to rip my hair out! 
        ‘Would be a wonderful thing if you ever put a product on the market that works out if the box without jumping through freaking hoops. 😡

      No solution worked for me yet (pair/unpair, boot while controllers are in dock, factory reset, restart again and again and again) I tried everything listed here multiple times: https://communityforums.atmeta.com/t5/Get-Help/Quest-2-Quest-pro-controllers-update-stuck-at-0/m-p/1004584

      Also I am not really sure on which firmware version I am. It seems to make a difference if your quest is on 47 or 49 software version. Unfortunately, the 49 update is either already installed on mine, or not available for my Quest 2. I tried updating, but the Quest 2 says it's on the latest firmware.

       

      Gonna wait a few days and if it doesn't work and doesn't resolve itself, I will send the controllers back to Meta. I might start looking into the Pico headsets then. It really sucks paying so much money for a device, being excited about it being shipped and then spending 5 hours in the evening googling useless solutions because it doesn't work out of the box. Really disappointing.

      My quest 2 says I am on the latest update v47. My controllers will pair to the headset, but they will not update to the latest firmware.

        Exactly what is happening with my pro controllers and Quest 2 headset. I’m not happy. Not a single thing I;ve tried has worked. Too many having this issue. Meta is slacking off and it sucks.

    It's about 2 hours that I'm trying to let them works.
    I have a Quest 2 V47 (the V49 still doesn't shows up as update).
    I tried every single hint posted above, none of them worked, I even tried to put the controller in pairing mode BEFORE starting the pairing process and this happened to show me "updating the controller, please wait..."  in the App itself, but at the end still doesn't work and in the Quest 2 still shows "Updating 0%".
    By pairing back the stock controllers it works perfectly without any problem, so I guess there is some bugs in V47 that struggle to pair the Pro controllers.

     

    EDIT: the controllers are on Fw 1.4.1.4

    I have the exact same issue - have tried rebooting the headset. Unpairing and repairing controllers a number of times - charging controllers when rebooting or restaring..... 

    Only thing not tried is factory resetting as it seems too extreme.... should I go there? Or are there any other suggestions?

      From what I've seen, factory resetting has not helped a single person so I won't bother

      Support had me do that. It didn't resolve the issue. I tweeted at the boss, maybe visibility at the top level will help. #FixProController on twitter if you want to join.

    Same issue here. This is mys econd set of pro controllers too, as the first one wouldn't even pair. Been at this for 2 hours. I'm about to just return this for a refund and be on my way.
