Quest 2 audio input/output not working with discord via link HELP!

Hi! To start with all of this worked totally fine yesterday evening—no settings have been changed. So this is happening suddenly!

I set up my quest 2 to my PC as per usual through link (with a cord directly to the PC) and went to talk to my partner on discord as we usually do when playing together and I couldn’t hear him nor was it picking up my audio. Inputs and outputs are as they should be both on windows and on discord. Tried restarting and resetting everything, made sure everything was up to date, made sure I wasn’t somehow muted on the quest itself, but nothing fixed it.

I went on VRchat through PC and people on there could hear me fine so it seems to be a quest-discord specific problem. From time to time I could get it to work for a second but then the quest would make a beep sound and all audio would cut off for discord.

Any advice would be amazing because this is one of the main activities I do with my long distance partner :( being able to talk to him through discord while using the quest while we play VRchat is important to me! At this point I’m just sort of hoping it will resolve itself next time we try to play but thought I’d seek out advice if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

  • To resolve audio input/output issues with your Oculus Quest 2 when using Discord via Link, ensure your audio devices are correctly selected in both Discord and Windows settings, and that the Oculus Virtual Audio Device is enabled. Consider restarting your headset and PC, and checking for driver updates. If problems persist, try reinstalling the Oculus app and drivers, and ensure your PC's privacy settings allow Discord access to the microphone.
    Detailed Steps:
    1. Check Discord Settings:
Open Discord and navigate to User Settings (cogwheel icon).
    Select "Voice & Video".
Verify the input and output devices are set to "Headphones - Oculus Virtual Audio Device" and "Headset Microphone - Oculus Virtual Audio Device".
    Adjust input and output volumes.
If using Push to Talk, ensure it's not accidentally enabled.
    2. Check Windows Sound Settings:
Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray.
    Select "Open Sound settings".
Under "Input," ensure the microphone is set to "Oculus Virtual Audio Device".
Under "Output," ensure the speakers/headphones are set to "Oculus Virtual Audio Device".
    Try disabling any audio enhancements.
    3. Check Oculus Link Settings:
Open the Oculus app on your PC.
Go to Devices -> Quest 2 and Touch.
Make sure the headset is connected and Link is enabled.
Under the audio settings, ensure the "Audio" switch is enabled if it exists.
    4. Restart and Reinstall:
Restart your Oculus Quest 2 and your computer.
Consider reinstalling the Oculus app and drivers if problems persist.
    5. Privacy Settings:
Go to Windows Settings -> Privacy -> Microphone.
Ensure Discord is enabled to access the microphone.
    6. Test Different USB Ports:
Try different USB ports on your computer to rule out any issues with the port.
    7. Test with Air Link:
Try connecting via Air Link to see if the issue is specific to the Link cable.
    8. Advanced Troubleshooting:
Consider resetting Discord's voice and video settings.
Check for driver updates for your audio devices.
Try disabling any background applications that might be interfering.

hi! I’ve gone through your whole list. Some things I had tried and some were new so I gave them a go. Even uninstalled and reinstalled discord. Unfortunately none of it has fixed my issue!
