Quest 2 stuck on pairing code – old Oculus account email no longer recognized

Hi Meta Support Team,

My Meta Quest 2 (serial #: ************) powers on normally but stays on the pairing-code screen and never connects to the Meta Quest app.

Things I’ve tried:

Multiple full factory resets using the hardware buttons

Pairing attempts from an iPhone 15 Pro, an iPad Pro, and a Windows PC using the Meta Quest Setup tool

Different cables, chargers, and Wi-Fi networks (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz)

Verified that the headset is detected by the PC setup tool (shows serial and firmware)

Installed SideQuest (headset visible but ADB locked because Dev Mode can’t be enabled)

Reinstalled the Meta Quest app on all devices

The headset never progresses past the pairing code; there’s no way to reach Wi-Fi setup or enable Dev Mode.

This headset was originally activated under an old Oculus account from around 2019, and that email no longer works after the Meta migration. When I try to verify the device on the Meta support site, it says “We couldn’t find a device associated with that information.”

It looks like this headset is orphaned because of the old Oculus-to-Meta account change. Please escalate this to the recovery or account-link team to either:

Provide the Meta Recovery Tool or firmware image, or

Associate this serial number with my current Meta account so I can finish setup.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Maybe the setup will work if you use an Android device?

If you don't have one, you can borrow one from a friend or family member just for the setup.

If this also doesn't work, contact support via email, chat or WhatsApp here:

    Good luck🤞

Thank-you for the email tip - that seems like it's the best option - I'll see if I can grab someone's 'droid and try that too.
