Quest 3 — Still no PC audio when using Link via USB-C (2025)

Hi everyone,

I am reopening this issue because it still happens in 2025.

My Quest 3 loses all PC audio when using Link cable. Windows shows “Oculus Virtual Audio Device” and the audio meter moves, but there is no sound in the headset.

Cable has been tested by the app and works at full speed.

If I use the “Repair” option in the Meta/Oculus PC app, the audio works again. But after a few days, the problem returns and I have to run Repair again. This happens almost every week.

This makes the headset annoying to use because repairing the app takes several minutes and should not be necessary for basic audio output.

Why this is a problem:

-Repairing the app every time: takes several minutes

-closes services and restarts the PC app

-sometimes resets parts of the configuration

-shouldn’t be necessary for such a basic feature

What I already checked:

-Oculus Virtual Audio Device set as default in Windows

-Volume and sound device settings are correct

-Good USB 3 cable and port

-Quest audio works fine in standalone mode

-Windows 11 fully updated

-Meta PC app fully updated

What I am looking for:

Are other users still experiencing this?

Does anyone know what keeps breaking the audio driver?

Is there a permanent fix that avoids repairing the app constantly?

Meta support: when will this known issue be solved???

Thanks in advance for any help or new information.

I got this exact same issue a few days ago and is still not working for me.

I don't know what happened but since there's a bunch of people with this exact problem, i bet its a bad update from Meta.

I guess the best we can do is wait for a fix from Meta.

  • Same problem for me. No sound anymore.

It worked fine last week, and now, I have no sound in the headset.

I had a problem with link cable few months ago, and now it is the sound.

I haven't changed anything on my PC (still the same configuration for several months).

      Hey adbgg!

We came across your post and wanted to help you out!

We know how important it is to be able to hear what's going on when gaming in PCVR, so please try the following steps to get back to hearing things clearly again:

      1. Check the Meta Quest Link app settings to make sure your headset is selected as the audio source:

      - Open the Meta Quest Link app on your computer

      - Select Devices in the left menu and then click your headset

      - Below Audio, check to make sure your headset is selected and that the audio slider is not muted, or set all the way to the left

      2. Check to make sure the sound of your computer is turned up and not set to 0

      3. Check to see if there are any updates for your headset:

      - Open the Meta Quest Link app on your computer

      - Select Library in the left menu and then click Updates to check for updates

      4. Re-seat the Link cable

      5. Try another USB port

      6. Restart your computer

      7. Reinstall the Meta Quest Link app

If these steps don't work, please get in touch with us by selecting our name, navigating to our profile and clicking 'Send a Message' - we're here to help!

        Hi Support

how can you give those advices when there is a thread right above this one with plenty of people having issues with Link and audio?

it is clear that there is a problem,  nothing to do with changing the USB port, reseating the cable or not setting the volume to 0 (this is my favorite)

we have opened a bug report with a lot of detail, I hope these bug reports reach someone in Meta

        thanks
