Quest 3 - Airlink freezing and stuttering/shaking after any small movements

I've recently bought a Quest 3 and it works fine in most games, however a couple of them seem to have a constant issue:

After about 5-10 minutes of comfortable playing through Airlink the game would suddenly freeze and, upon waking up, the tracking becomes very shaky and extremely sensitive to the smallest of movements. Turning the headset off and on temporarily fixes the problem, but after a few seconds the image freezes again at which point the problem repeats up until the game is restarted. Turning off Asynchronous Spacewarp in the debug tool seemed to have fixed the issue completely in TWD Saints & Sinners, however it is still occuring in Into the Radius regardless if ASW is turned off or not

    Im having the same issue. If you remove the headset from your head and then put it back on it temporarily fixes the issue. Really annoying

    Let's see what we can do to help you both get things turned around!
    Please try doing these three things: a hard reboot, restarting your PC, and restarting your router.
    Steps to Hard Reboot Your VR Headset:

    1. Turn off your headset.
    2. Hold the power and volume (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
    3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Boot Device and press the power button.
    4. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

    Kindly let us know if this fixes things or if more assistance is needed!

      The problem persisted even after hard rebooting the headset, restarting the PC and router

        Thank you for letting us know that you are still experiencing freezing, stuttering, and shaking after small movements after a hard reboot. We know how this can be distracting, so we will love to move forward with this matter. Can you please answer and try to do the following? 

        1. Have your headphones been dropped or hit recently? 
        2. Can you verify that there are no other IR emitters in the same room that are potentially causing interference?
        3. Do you experience the stuttering while the device is on a flat surface without any vibrating objects nearby,.
        4. Uninstall and reinstall GPU drivers. see Updating your graphics card driver for Oculus Rift S. 
             a. Close the Oculus app.
             b. Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run command.
             c. Enter C:\Program Files\ Oculus\Support\ oculus-drivers
             d. Open oculus-driver
             e. Open the Oculus app, and then try to connect your sensor again.

    Yes this issue is still on going this even happens with a link cable sometimes, its typically after the system a hiccup this happens in many games like blade and sorcery!

    ive never used a VPN with the quest through airlink link even if I was a VPN wouldn't affect performance when using a link cable and even after factory resets this issue persists, I can link multiple other forums of others having the same issue if you would like this is an actual bug with the headset or the link software I'm not sure but we need help resolving it

    Honestly I'm having a similar issue with this The screen is shaking very badly over air link and its impossible to play any of the VR games.

      Hey there, pure56! Thank you for sharing. Shaky visuals with PC VR is not a great experience, and we would be happy to investigate this further.

      We typically see issues like this when the connection is not secure. Since you mentioned it not happening with Link Cable, we suggest you check out these suggested best practices:

      • Have your PC connected to Router/Access Point via Ethernet cable
      • Headset should be connected to Wi-Fi via 5GHz band (AC or AX)
      • Router in the same room as the headset or in line-of-sight, and at least 1m off the ground
      • Air Link works best with non-mesh network configuration

      Feel free to provide some information about your Air Link setup and we would be happy to investigate further and do what we can to help you out.

        Hello Meta my internet is not the problem as its wired Ethernet and also Virtual desktop is better Working but I like airlink better this started happing when I got my quest 3 I dont know if also my Oculus debug tool settings might of caused this but if you got any solutions meta then  it would be great.

    If anyone else is STILL having this problem. i have found the issue (and fix) after quite some time and troubleshooting.

    if you have the console window open from the debugtool then you can read the errors as they occur, the error you would receive would most likely look something like this

    as seen in that last bit of text it mentions the Q3's built in headphone and microphone driver as a work around you can tell the link software to use windows settings instead. inside of the windows settings you now need to choose a new audio output device that IS NOT the quest 3's headphones. 
    for example i have provided the images below, i really hope this helps people and helps get this fixed ASAP.

      SOLVED! Hey guys, I've been trying all of the things described about this issue in internet, but finally solved and I'm happy. So the trouble finally in the nvidia drivers. It doesn't matters if you will install latest ones, go to device management and delete all of the devices connected with video, then you will switch to internal video if you have so, or just reboot and you will have proper drivers installed, don't forget to install fresh invidia drivers before. Just try it. I had this problem fighting for months... hope this will help you too guys! Best regards from RU, enjoy your VR.

        Hey all, unfortunately it helped temporarily, only for one session and I was so upset that didn't took my VR glasses in hands for several weeks. Yes, also I was traveling a lot, but I'm almost disappointed in product with such a lot of bugs in air link mode. My notebook still running all modern games without VR, I have Lenovo Legion 5 Pro (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX3070 and 32Gb DDR4 ram + SSD) but still have same problems with freezes after couple minutes of running the game. I thought maybe there is a problem with my router, which in very powerful - Xiaomi AX6000. And took another one to exclude such a version, still have same result. Complete Re-installation of windows 11 doesn't helped. Now I'm going to try cable link with PC to exclude air link issues. Will update this post later. Hope it will help someone. Guy above also wrote about internal headphoes, I will try also, but seems to me I tried this before, to exclude bluetooth from this chain, I don't remember, too many things I tried already.

      This! For some reason half of the games I play start stuttering after a few minutes when using the builtin headphones, and changing the output to the Windows default seems to have fixed it. Thank you!

      Thank you very much for the solution. After months of having this problem, 
      I no longer felt like using my Quest 3 because it was a bad experience.

    Im also having this same issue in Skyrim Vr while having set spacewarp to enabled or auto. If I set it to off, it doesn't seem to occur but then my game doesn't look as smooth as it should.

    I should mention im using link cable and have a pretty good pc.

    RTX 4070ti

    I9 14900k

    32gb ram

    I have problems with AIR LINK too. I spent 5 hours talking to bots in support at watsapp. I've done everything, it doesn't work.

    The problem is, when you connect to the META QUEST LINK, via AIR LINK, everything is not really stupid, it slows down, twitches, some kind of huge delay. It is impossible to press anything. It works less well over the cable. But, the most interesting thing is that STEAM VR works via AIR LINK without any problems at all. The problem is with the Meta link. I don't know what to do anymore. I even flashed the helmet through the meta website. Nothing helps. I can't even imagine what else can be done.

    If your computer has both discrete and integrated graphics card, make sure that default is discrete. 
     
    In my case main monitor was connected to motherboard instead of connecting to 4060, by this reason system to run on integrated one, which was not enough for VR. 
     
    I reconnected monitor and disconnected integrated one in devices just in case - now everything works and starts without lags. 
    Month of searching for problem, huh.

    I've found a bug regarding Air Link (or Quest 3). If you have wifi mesh or something like that in your home, where there are multiple WIFI signals with the same SSID (name) and password, the headset (or the air link system?) sometimes, connects to the WIFI source that is weaker. It's hard to understand at a glance, as they are all named the same.

    In my case, there is the main WIFI router, 1 meters away from the headset and direct line of sight, and there is the WIFI mesh node in the kitchen, 10 meters and 3 walls away. And I realized the headset was connected to the one in the kitchen. (This is the bug, it should be able to handle multiple WIFI sources with the same name correctly) When I turned off the node in the kitchen everything was fixed. A more long term solution I'll try is to create an additional SSID in the main router, for the quest.
