Quest 3 connect to PC further away

Hi,

I got a very specific problem. In need to connect my Quest 3 to a PC, which is around 8 metres away (I'm from Austria, so no inch or feet here ;-)).

My problem is, there doesn't seem to exist any cable which is longer than 5 metres. And also I need the loading feature included because of using the Quest for some hours without interrupting.

So, how do I solve this? Or is this not possible because of some technical restrictions I'm not aware of?

And don't mention Air Link. I'm not able to use it, as the purpose is to use it for flight sims, so the best picture quality is required. And I will not buy a secondary router just to use it with airlink. Beside this, it's also not possible, as the pc is already wired with my home network, so no 2nd RJ45-connection available.

Any tips/links for suitable cables or a plain "nope, not possible" would be very helpful.

Thx.

P.S.: Sorry for the bad english in advance. :-D

  • You can get 10m USB-C data cables, but they can cost a lot more than a new router, especially an active optical cable (necessary for long distance). For example, 10m Avencore Carbon Series Active Optical USB Type-C (40Gbps, 60W) costs about A$ 324 (Australian dollars). A Lindy 15m USB 3.2 Gen 2 & DP 1.4 Type C Hybrid Cable costs about $A 795. The cheapest 10m cables go for about A$200.

PS. yes, I noted you are in Austria, not Australia, but I am in the latter country😄.

      Hi,

thx for the reply. As I said, the problem is not regarding money, its a technical limitation. I'm not able to connect a 2nd router to the pc using the Quest.

That prices for the cables are not nice, but ok if they should work. If i translate it to my currency, its around 170 €, which is a lot, but what should I do?

      any other suggestions? All
