Quest 3 keeps losing wifi connection

My quest 3 has been disconnecting from wifi every 15 minutes and lagging horribly for the past few months. I know this is a common issue and I’d like to know if there’s actually a way to stop it. I’ve already reset the computer and the headset, uninstalled and reinstalled everything, factory reset my quest, reset the router, got a whole new router, switched to device mac instead of randomized, and I’m cable linked to the computer. It’s incredibly annoying and this should not be a months long issue. If there is no way to permanently fix this I’ll likely be switching to another brand.

    Hey Z0mbieB0yX3,

You've really tried a lot. Thanks for that, it really helps us narrow down the cause of the wifi connectivity issue. A further cause of this issue could be a software bug, we would ask you to update your headset using our Software Update Tool. We ask you to use this tool as it ensures you get the whole update uninterrupted by the wifi issue. It would make sense for previous updates to maybe be flawed as your device is not connecting to wifi correctly.

We would also ask you to check for firmware updates for your router as outdated router firmware can cause connectivity problems with newer devices. Log in to your router's web interface to check for and install any available updates.

Thanks for reaching out, let us know how you get on.

    Could this be your problem

"I used band splitting, and that fixed the issue and the connection is now stable."

If you haven't done it already, try band splitting your router. I have separate 2.4 and 5Ghz SSID's and my Quest 3 connects to the 5Ghz band. As far as I know, it is pretty much mandatory for the Quest 3 to be on the 5Ghz band. Also, it's best to be as close as possible to your router.

Otherwise, if you have any friends that have a Quest headset, get them to try their headset on your wifi and see if it disconnects or not. If it doesn't, RMA your headset and get a replacement under warranty.
