Quest 3 not connecting via Link Cable

Just bought a Quest 3 the other day, and have also purchased a Link Cable to help play more taxing games as the internet in my house is not great.

However, the Quest 3 repeatedly either fails to "see" my PC when connected or seems to get stuck in the Link launch after attempting to connect. It seems to just sit in a new virtual space, with a large Meta logo and three dots repeatedly flashing. And then does... nothing.

And that is only if I can get it to connect in the first place, which has been a 1 in 20ish on current attempts.

With the Link Cable plugged into my PC and then into the headset, I can hear the Quest notification sound for getting plugged in, followed by alternating connected and disconnected notification on the PC itself. I can tell the cable is being seen by the Quest after the pings stop, as the battery changes to the being charged logo.

Has anyone any solutions? There is also a Quest Link software update on my Meta app on the PC, but nothing I do can seem to force that through either.

    Hey Grimm0thy,

We realise that connection issues are holding back your PC Metaverse experience, and we'd like to see what we can do to help!

First of all, please ensure that your Link app and PC drivers are also updated to the latest version to ensure all of the latest fixes and patches are installed in case this helps with the problem. However, we do also have a workaround which we understand has helped other users with this issue, with details provided below:

    1. Start the Microsoft Services Console (Start → Search → services.msc) .
    2. Find "OVRService".
    3. Right-click "OVRService", select "Properties", and find "Startup type" in the General tab. 4
    4. Select "Automatic (Delayed Start)" from the drop-down menu. This option will make Windows wait until all services set to "Automatic" are started before starting the OVRService service.
    5. Wait 2-3 minutes, click the "Apply" button, and then click "OK".
    6. Restart your PC.

We hope this helps, however, as we'll need to gather some further information about your setup, please get in touch with us over Private Message, and we can see what options we have available to help!
