Quest 3 stuck on same five-digit pairing code

My Quest 3 is stuck showing the same 5-digit pairing code and cannot complete setup. I’ve tried factory reset, browser pairing, Meta Horizon app, and all available support channels. I do not have access to the Meta Quest app, and the headset cannot reach the Support menu.
The pairing code never changes and is not accepted on meta.com/device. I believe the device may be locked in enterprise mode and needs a firmware restore or replacement.
Meta’s Help Center no longer provides access to device support forms. I need help from Meta staff to resolve this.

As it stands now, I am currently in possession of a $500 paper weight

You need the mobile app on your phone or tablet to pair the Quest with the 5-digit code.

This code never change..... each headset has its particular pairing code

  • Just to clarify — I’ve already tried the Meta Horizon app on Android and the browser pairing method. The 5‑digit code never changes and the headset cannot complete setup. When I enter the code in the app, nothing happens — the headset stays stuck on that same screen and never progresses.
I believe the device may be stuck in enterprise mode or a pairing loop, and I’m hoping for assistance from Meta staff to resolve this.

Thank you very much for your kindness in responding. I’m very new to this and appreciate the help.

  • Thanks for the suggestion. The headset was purchased new from Amazon, an authorized retailer. The 5‑digit code never changes and the device never progresses past the pairing screen. I’m using an Android phone. I’m waiting for Meta staff to review.”

Are you already in contact with support?

If not, you can reach out to them via email, chat or WhatsApp HERE

  • I cannot thank you enough for that information.  I had tried for days to navigate the company's merciless maze to reach a human being.  I have sent an email. Much thanks again,

  • Hello to everyone.

I entered the same nightmare today, after receiving a brand new, sealed Quest 3 from Amazon at the not so nice price of 550 Euro.

As GlacialSeaOtter3595 wrote, after powering up the headset and connecting it to the network, it receives the updates but the setup can never be completed. Everything stops at the pairing code page, no matter how many times I reset the device. Then nothing I can do, I can't open any menu.

I contacted the Meta assistance, they are now working for a replacement.

Just one thing: You are not forced to use a mobile device (smartphone or tablet) to complete the setup. You can download the Meta Horizon version for PC and complete the setup connecting the Quest 3 by link cable.

    What a bad day!

EDIT: I was wrong: when I turn on the Quest 3 for the first time, I'm forced to use a mobile device to pair it. There is no way to do it from PC. Just insane!

Incorrect information. You CANNOT set up the headset using the PC app!!! The PC app is for linking to the PC to play PCVR games only, not for initial setup. You MUST use the mobile app first. In fact, if you are now unable to pair your headset, it might be because you tried to use the PC app first before the headset was properly set up- we have seen this happen before with some users.

Nicobunga There in lies your problem. You cannot set up your Quest with a PC only. You must use the mobile app on an Android or iOS phone or tablet. You cannot set up your headset on a PC. You are having a nightmare of your own making because you didn't follow the clearly laid out instructions. Stop wasting people's time here and follow the process.

[Deleted]  If you aren't a Meta employee.  How could he possibly be wasting anyone's time?  Deciding to respond was apparently a nightmare of your own making.  You chose to read and you chose to respond.  Its absolutely understandable that someone would want to complete this setup on a PC.  Its ridiculous that they would have a PC app and it not have the capability.  Some folks only want to use the PClink.  Why would I ever assume I would need a phone if I only want to use this with my PC.  [Deleted]

You have return window on Amazon. If you think, the headset is defective just send it back, get a new one or your money back instead of dealing with Meta about a replacement.....Meta will probably send you a refurbished device, not a new one.

Edit: sorry, how the hell do I open the "Quick setting menu"? After another factory resetting, I'm trying to press every button on the cotrollers, with no result. I just see a small Meta logo disapperaring after few seconds...

Maybe it hasn't updated correctly after the factory reset. You can try this

Said all that, you need the Meta Horizon app on a phone or tablet.

Thank You for the answer. Please, let me understand just one thing: is the "quick settings menu" already available when You turn on the headset?

I found the following video guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfr1tPH_AoY. What the guy does form 2:08 to 4:36 is what I can do, but during those steps, there is no way to open any menu from the controllers. Is that normal?

This thing is driving me crazy.

  • Thank You for the comment. I really don’t know how to do: the only mobile device I own it’s not compatible with the Meta Horizon application, I can’t install that.

However, here’s what they wrote from the official assistance: “The PC Meta application will allow you to connect your Headset to the PC, you will need to go through the Set up your device process using the 5 digit pairing code to be inserted to the Meta application on your PC.”

Make sense for You? Please, help me if You can, I’m going to replace my headset but I will be glad to solve the issue without doing it.

    Sincerely.

Like I said, you must properly set up the headset using the mobile phone before even contemplating using the PC app to connect to a PC.

the only mobile device I own it’s not compatible with the Meta Horizon application

Then borrow someone else's phone. You only really need it for the initial setup.

Just follow the simple instructions as outlined by steve_40 A child can understand. However, you might have done something not too smart and bricked it. 🙄 You should send it back. I don't think that you and your Quest are meant to be together. 😂

There's a lot of unhelpful replies and comments on this thread. I had this problem and it was extremely frustrating. I was about ready to return my brand new Meta Quest 3. I had installed the Meta Horizon mobile app on my Android and was stuck on the Quest screen asking for a 5 digit code.
I finally got past it by removing the Meta Horizon App from my phone and reinstalling it (I had just installed it as part of the setup steps).

Kelinga Your reply isn't very helpful either. Did you not read his comment?

"The only mobile device I own it’s not compatible with the Meta Horizon application"

Read the comments correctly before offering a solution that isn't going to work.

This is why we keep telling him to get a compatible phone, Einstein... 😉
