Quest 3 unstable network.

After about 2 minutes of stable gameplay, network latency starts to spike, causing the image to freeze for split seconds. I've tried multiple Wi-Fi networks, but it hasn't helped, even setting the bitrate to 10mbps still gives me the same spikes. If I completely turn off Wi-Fi on the Quest 3 and turn it back on, the network stabilizes for a short while, but after a few minutes, the spikes return. Is there any way to fix this ? This never happened on my Quest 2, which I used just a week ago.

If I turn off the 802.1ax band, it's a bit better and by that I mean it doesn't freeze everytime I move my head, but again, after some minutes it becomes worse, even with a turned off ax band, I can use 200mbps but after that, stutters begin and I have to turn it down to around 80 and it still freezes, tho a lot less rarely and could be tolarsted in low intensity games.

Tldr

Ax band on: stable first 2 min of gameplay, after that it stutters heavily even at 10mbps

Ax band off: 200mbps fine for some time, but it starts to stutter and I have to turn it down to 80 and it still stutters a bit.

Turning the wifi of the quest 3 off and on from quick settings fixes the stutters for around 2 minutes and it all begins all over again.

If playing PCVR, your PC needs to be wired to your router using an ethernet cable. A wifi connection between the PC and router is not sufficient. A lot of people say an ipv6 router is mandatory, but I get great gameplay using an older ipv5 router with 50Mbps broadband internet speed playing games on the Q3 via AirLink, SteamLink or VirtualDesktop on the 5.8Ghz band. The Q3 defaults to 200Mbps on the local wifi I think, which works perfectly fine for me. There is no wifi congestion where I live, so that may not be the case for everyone and maybe that's why they swear by ipv6.

Could you possibly try using your headset at a friend's house to diagnose if the problem is with your headset itself, or with your PC or router or ISP? If you still get the stuttering problem on other networks then you know it's the headset that is faulty.

My laptop is wired via ethernet. It runs fine for around 2 minutes and network starts to spike after moving my head, if I disable the ax band on my router it is a bit more stable and is stable for longer, but after a while it still becomes unplayable.

I could try it at a friend's house, but I don't know when I'll have the time.

Wired PCVR seemed to be fine last time, can't test it much since the cable broke.

        Hi there,

We understand you are encountering network issues, and we know how inconvenient this can be during your day to day gameplay, we'd love to get this sorted and get you back on track in the Metaverse. We would like to encourage you to make sure that:

        • Your Wi-Fi network is working and other devices can connect to it.
        • Your Wi-Fi password is entered correctly.
        • You're not too far away from your Wi-Fi router.
        • You're not on a Wi-Fi hot spot, such as at a hotel or airport if you're trying to do an initial setup.

If you can't connect your Meta Quest to Wi-Fi, restart your headset.

If you still can't connect your Meta Quest to Wi-Fi, try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network if one is available. If the headset connects to a different network, the issue may be with your Wi-Fi configuration.

If your headset won't connect to your Wi-Fi network, use the RouteThis Helps app to help identify any issues with your network.

If you are still encountering issues, please don't hesitate to reach out to us privately, we'd be happy to explore alternative options with you!
