Quest 3 will not pair with my PC over Air Link

I've just purchased the Quest 3 and I CAN NOT get it to pair with my PC over Air Link. It finds my PC, and I am on the same network as my PC but it just hangs and says it can not pair.

-I've checked Windows Firewall and there is an exception for Oculus.

-I've turned off the Link options in the headset and turned them back on again.

-I've changed my network to Private and to Public.

- I do not have a mesh network.

-I've tried restarting my PC, my headset and my router multiple times.

-I've deleted all Oculus files on my PC then reinstalled them.

-I've seen advice to go into Windows Settings > System > Quest Link, but since I've never linked my Quest to Windows in the first place, that option isn't there.

Nothing is working. This is incredibly frustrating. It seems like this has been happening to a lot of people for a long time. Why is something like connecting to the WIFI so difficult?

Please advise. Many thanks.

  • Do you have the Meta Link software installed and running on the computer you're connecting to?

A few things to look at if the issue is a wireless connection: How far away is your wireless router? If it's not in the same room this can cause connection issues. Are you connecting to a 5G or WiFi 6 router? WiFi 6 will give a better connection, but over a shorter distance. Take a look at a PrismXR device. It attaches to your computer and becomes a WiFi hotspot dedicated to your headset. It's easy to set up using the desktop app. I have a pretty good WiFi router and I was only getting about 1200 mbps with it in another room. With the PrismXR I get a solid 2400 mbps but it sits about 5 feet from where I use my headset.

  • I'm sure the problem is with the Meta Link software. I can't connect via link cable, but I can connect via Air Link, although I have gotten random error messages that seem to correct themselves.

Quest 3 will not work with PC. I mean - it works sometimes, other times not, other times it will work for a while and dc, other times it will randomly not work with audio. Basically - advertising quest as PC ready is a scam, literally. And it's not just over Air Link. It's same with cable. Each time you plug quest to PC it's random if it will work. Restarting, reinstalling will do nothing, it's just like that. It's a scam.
