Quest2 no longer connects to PC over cable since update on 30/06/25

Hi, I click the link menu and it now shows its searching straight away the popup is new and usually it show my racing rig but now just searches and never finds it. I can connect over Wi-Fi but that does not work fast enough to race.

I've tried different cables, ports and even my laptop also. Unplugging either end of either cable from either PC makes a sound on the headset so USB is I assume from that connecting. there was another update today 1/7/25 I was hoping would fix for tonight's league race but exactly the same issue. Anyone got any ideas or is there an issue that is awaiting a fix?

  • Same problem here. Meta updates just make everything so much more worse. My quest 3 used to work no problem.. now link cable doesn't connect, I have to fark around restart quest service, restart computer, restart headset until it eventually loads my desktop.

So annoying i hate meta for this.

  • I have the same issue too but it shows up, loads forever, same thing with Air Link.
They all used to work reliably and really good but after the update they just don't work.

  • Same issue on my quest 3. I unfortunately joined the PTC and don't want to factory reset just to see if that will fix it but I don't know what else to try. I believe v79.1028 was the update that broke link and v79.1029 didn't help. Oddly enough even if I unplug the link cable from my PC and leave the power plugged in to the cable (with the power brick that came with the headset) it still does the infinite reset thing like I'm unplugging it every second. I've been forced to use a powered USB hub with Ethernet but if you don't have one lying around that's not really worth it.

    Hi everyone!

We came across your post regarding not be able to connect to Quest Link since a recent update and we thought we'd offer our assistance. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

The first thing that we'd recommend everyone to do would be to install an update via USB using the Meta Quest Software Tool

    You can do this by:

    1. Hold down the power button and the volume (-) button until the USB update screen shows
    2. Open the Meta Quest Software Tool on a PC browser
    3. Select the 'Sideload' option on your headset and follow the steps on the Update Tool

Please try this first and then we can all explore some additional troubleshooting together!
