Rift cv1 HDMI issue?

I’ve got an Oculus Rift CV1 that’s giving me trouble. The headset isn’t being picked up over HDMI at all — the USB connection seems fine, but the Oculus app just says “No HDMI Connection” and the display stays black.

For context, I was an early backer of Oculus and also own a DK1. Unfortunately, the DK1 doesn’t work on my current setup either, so I’m wondering if there’s a deeper compatibility or hardware issue here.

    Hi there elias.mikalsen,

We've just come across your post regarding the issue you are having with your Oculus Rift not being detected by your PC. We know how eager you are to get back into the world of PCVR, so please attempt these troubleshooting steps:

    1. Ensure all cables are properly plugged into the PC in the right ports.
    2. Confirm your PC meets the minimum requirements and system recommendations.
    3. Whitelist the Meta Quest Link app in their antivirus/firewall program.
    4. Remove any adapters from the headset. If you have a CrossFire or an SLI configuration, please remove one of the graphics cards. The headset and primary monitor must be connected to the same dedicated graphics card.
    5. The only fully supported configuration is to have the headset and one monitor plugged in. If you are using 2 or more monitors or displays of any kind, please unplug the extras.
    6. The Rift is designed to work in tandem with a computer monitor. Though some TVs may work, they are not a supported form of secondary display for the Rift/Link. If you are using a TV, tablet, projector, or any other type of display, we ask that you remove it and connect a computer monitor instead, to ensure that you are using a supported secondary display.
    7. Try reseating the cable on both the headset side and the side that plugs into the GPU and inspect it for damage such as bent pins, frays, twists, kinks, etc.
Note: For the Rift, you should plug in the USB 3.0 cable first, then the display cable to the graphics card.
    8. Update graphics drivers - Note: The Rift cable should be disconnected from the computer prior to updating or reinstalling the graphics driver. After an update/installation, the PC should be restarted to make sure the update/installation was successful prior to reconnecting the Rift cable.
    9. Disconnect any unnecessary USB devices (everything but the headset, keyboard, and mouse) and try the headset in another USB 3.0 port.
    10. Try the headset on another computer if possible.

Please let us know if the issue persists after having followed all of the suggested steps.

everything there seems to be something I have checked or done. also want to add the fact that the tracking lights on the headset still works but the sensors don't light up even though they say they are connected this all happened over night so there's no real damage on the device itself hopefully. the indicator for when the headset has an orange light which is normal and when I put the headset on or block the sensor it stops but the white light does not show up, and the screen is just dead black no lights at all to indicate its giving and display.
