Right controller disconnecting

I just got a new Q3 last week and everything has worked perfectly until I bought the Meta charging dock/batteries.  My right controller keeps shutting off every few minutes.  Removing the meta rechargeable battery and replacing with a standard AA battery and theres no issue.  Clearly is the dock system

Ive reseated the battery, tried unpairing/pairing, restart, checking that the leads touch, blah blah blah.   Ive returned the dock and got a replacement and same issue.  Again, its obviously the meta branded dock and battery that's the issue.

Is there anything that can be done to fix this or is the dock just a waste of money because they didnt make the batteries correctly?  Extremely frustrating to spend all this money on a subpar product

    Hi there Silverorb909!

Thank you so much for reaching out, and we’re truly sorry to hear about the frustrating experience with your Meta Quest 3 controller and charging dock. We absolutely understand how disappointing it is when a new accessory doesn’t perform as expected, especially after all the excitement of setting up your new headset.

Since you've already tried reseating the battery, re-pairing the controller, restarting the headset, and even replacing the dock itself, you've done all the right steps, and we appreciate your thoroughness.

To help us look into this further and explore possible solutions, could you please confirm the following:

Is the issue happening only with the right controller, or have you noticed similar behavior with the left controller as well?

When using the rechargeable battery, does the controller show low battery warnings before disconnecting?

Have you tried charging the battery fully outside the dock using a separate charger, if available?

In the meantime, we recommend continuing to use standard AA batteries to ensure uninterrupted gameplay. Please let us know how it goes so we can look into it further.

  • It is only the right battery, which I keep at 100%.  The issue happens when fully charged, just as much as it does at less of the charge.

After doing some testing, it all comes down to the leads/posts not staying in contact during gameplay.

The batteries are not securely seated in the controller.  Manufacturing differential.  If I cram a corner of a card on the right side of the battery/housing, this resolves the issue.  Which is the 3 posts within the controller/battery are not making constant contact.  Placing a foreign object, in this case a corner of a plastic card, keeps the connection tight.  Although, this is obviously not ideal but it does fix the flaw

So, with all the same issues I have been seeing with your compact charging dock, its a "luck of the draw" on whether or not the batteries will make contact.  Leaving me to keep constantly exchanging the product in the hopes the next right side battery works, or just returning the product and never use a Meta branded charger again

  • Well, I just received my 4th exchange/return system and it appears the battery in this kit works. I used it for most of the day without one hiccup.  So that validates my belief that its a luck of the draw and slight issues in manufacturing

If I start having the issues again, I will reach out privately.  For now I have 2 good batteries that are seated correctly.

Thank you for at least acknowledging my issue
