So, a brand new Quest 3. Wouyld not pair out the box. Now stuck in endless update loop (5 hours) where it says applying update and then restarts...and then does so again and again. Quest is plugged in. I have factory reset 3 times and every time same happens. The online solution is to connect to a PC. But I have a mac and there is no solution online to solve this utter fiasco. What a pile of sheet.
That's very strange.. The Quest is one of the easiest headsets to set up.. You have downloaded the Horizon app to your phone??
Yes I have the app. It won't pair until the update completes. Yes you would think it would be easy but a quick look on the internet shows that this is a VERY VERY VERY common problem. And all indications are that the support offered is appalinglly bad. For a company the size of microsoft you expect better. There is a good reason I have a mac.
Update loop is not good; headset might be bricked. I would return the headset for refund or exchange.
Edit: apparently you can run the Meta Quest Software Updater from a Mac as long as you use a Chromium-based web browser.
No that's not true. I have a chrome browser on my mac and I have logged on to the update tool online. It shows the device (ie the quest 3) but when you click on this to update it just says device not supported. A **bleep** show.

It does work on a Mac, but the error message is because you have a major fault in your headset and definitely need to return it for refund or exchange.
Same problem, constantly rebooting on initial update. When trying to connect via chrome it says device not supported.
