Virtual Desktop with cable connection

I have read some posts here and there and found out, that Quest3 supports USB-Ethernet Adapter.

It works great, i can charge my quest at gaming and if i start at 95%...play a hour....i end at 95%.

It´s a absolut stable connection without interferences and i can use godlike with 500mbps!

(measured is ~480mbps, but 500mbps works without any problem)

 

For me the best PCVR link/experience i can get!

 

For use you need:

-developer account

-activated USB debugging

-DHCP in Router

 

Short summary:

-turn off WLAN in Quest 3

-LAN cable to router <> adapter

-PD to adapter

-Adapter to Quest 3

-Turn on and check if the store is loading without WLAN, then you know, it´s working

 

Greetings....ah, and if a meta developer read this: PLEASE DON`T TURN OFF THIS FEATURE!

      Some computers don't have USB-C but they probably do have a gigabit Ethernet connection. Your speeds are reaching near max USB-C 3.1 speeds.

      I tried looking for the version of these items in English using the listing id's. It's easier to find the model on different regions using the ASIN.

      The problem is when you load these links it defaults to the first item.

      What sizes are you using for each of the cables... the sideload and cable to adapter?

      Also is your USB-C Ethernet adapter the one without the side connector? Or is it the first one?

        The adapter with PD connection is the right one.
        (RTL8153 Chip)

        I use a 0.25cm on the Quest so that I don't have to constantly load the Quest's USB port, so I can also plug in the link cable here, for example.

        This is followed by a 2m extension cable to the adapter, which is sufficient for simulations.

    VD offer me better optics as Link/Airlink, because resolution of VD is higher and sharpening filter is better.

    ....and MSFS has a much better performance with VDXR.

      Andis3D  Each to their own but I get better results with msfs using either my Q3 or Pro/rtx4090 with my official link cable and 650mbps bitrate.  Better clarity, smoother performance, and lower latency.  I’m not saying I can’t get very good results with VD (godlike, ax1, vdxr) just best with Link, for me anyway.

        Then use Link, I didn't say you had to use VD.

        I do it precisely because of the advantages you list here and i have compared both. 😉

    Then I'm glad we were able to clear that up.

    I just want to inform you that it is possible, because most people probably don't even know that.
    And they should decide for themselves whether this is something for them or not.

    Now I have bought a longer cable, unfortunately there are no normal extension cables in this length, somehow it stops at 3 metres.

    Connected with a coupling, but it only works in one direction, i.e. turn it until it works.

    Unfortunately, I get the debris message again, but only very rarely.

     

    p.s. Updates work via cable, for standalone game installations you need WLAN.

    bro sorry but quest link with 960mb modifications is like native vr headset 

    try it bro you just need to open diagnostic folder in pc link software and modify bitrate to 960mb try to copy paste because you can't type and you will see magic I compare with display port device and it like 98% it's amazing

    I have tryed it long time ago and made comparisons (with "your" settings), for me VD looks better (my opinion).

     

    But I would try link / airlink again if it would work....maybe a meta bug (instand disconnect). 🤐

    You like Steamlink, it´s ok, use it and have fun, no problem.

    For me, the only decisive factor was the type of connection, I wanted to “show” that here, I don't care how others use it, do what you want with it.

    I don't know what problems people have with it if other people use it differently, have fun.

    Ah, forgot....Airlink is also working with this connection, but WLAN must be ON and connected, then airlink use USB-Ethernet.

    (I found out when I was at a bit rate that my router couldn't possibly manage)
