Weak wi-fi connection

I hook up to a hotspot off my laptop that is running at 5 GHz. With my quest 2 I always had three bars of signal strength. My laptop is no more than 7 feet away from me. Other things (phone, tv, and iPad) hook up to the hotspot without issue. Even when I’m fortunate enough to have my quest 3 headset connect to Wi-Fi my favorite game; Population one refuses to connect often. The quest 3 headset tries to connect displaying the same message over and over and over again. “ Obtaining IP address, followed by saved”. The process repeats over and over until that headset connects to Wi-Fi. Once it connects to Wi-Fi, I can go anywhere that I want.  It often fails to connect to the Population 1 game and is very annoying. From 7 feet away I get only two little bars on the Wi-Fi symbol. In the left hand corner. I’ve read  that forgetting the Wi-Fi   and logging into it again works. I’ve done that numerous times. I’ve even factory reset my headset a couple of times. Nothing seems to work. I’m at my wits end. Even after I’m fortunate to connect and playing the game for some time,  I get “signal lost”. I start over again.
