why won't this work, 300+ down the drain?

Hello, i bought this 3S and today I charged it up, turned it on, Hooked it to my wifi/internet And then it 'updated' and now it says to pair to meta horizon app, even gives a 5 digit code. I hooked it to my PC and tried to 'pair' it and nothing, it shows up on my link under devices but nothing, doesn't even ask for the code or anything. I tried to brig up menu with the meta button on my right controller, it shoes it loading then nothing, no menu or anything. I tried a reset, hard reset and even a factory reset, nothing still the same thing, is there something I am missing? and why is it impossible to get a live agent to help, that one has me thinking META should be sued and boycotted.

    Yes, it is.

You must pair the Quest to the Horizon app on your phone or tablet before even thinking of linking it to pc. The mobile app will ask for the 5-digit code to pair the app with the headset.

Set up your Meta Quest 3S

If you still need support from Meta go HERE for email, chat or WhatsApp with them.

It's amazing how many people get confused by that step, even though there is literally a QRCODE on the underside of the box lid and also on the first page of the quick setup leaflet for downloading the phone app and setting up the headset πŸ€ͺ.

META should be sued and boycotted

steve_40 Some people want to sue Meta because they're not smart enough to follow very simple instructions.. Reminds me of the people who tried to dry off their cats by putting them in the microwave oven......and then tried to sue the manufacturers because their pets exploded. πŸ€ͺ🀣

that would have been nice to know before I bought it. Oh well, still have an old flip phone, guess maybe I need one of my relatives to set that part up if I decide to keep it. Thank you for being helpful and not a douche.

mornu So, you didn't do any basic research on the requirements before spending your money on it? And you wanted to sue Meta because of that? πŸ™„

If you don't follow the instructions you're not going to be able to set up your headset. I don't think you can sue Meta because you can't work out how to set it up. There is no warranty against that.

There is NOTHING on the package that says I need an app capable phone.I just rechecked.  Hell I couldn't even find a needed list anywhere like internet or PC. The fact they require a phone app would give MORE power to suing them for tracking. They/Facebook already were sued for sharing data and settled for 725 million. As for not being able to figure it out, that would be why I mentioned a live agent, who maybe could have helped me, not an AI which just kept saying to reboot, factory reboot, etc. But I guess it was too much to think you could have figured all that out.

mornu Seriously mate, you must be one of the few "special people" who couldn't understand the process. If you're so worried about your data with Meta, why did you buy a Meta headset? You're definitely special., πŸ€”

Under the FTC, IF A PRODUCT REQUIRES AN APP OR INTERNET CONNECTION TO FUNCTION AS ADVERTISED, THAT INFORMATION MUST BE CLEAR AND CONSPICUOUS TO AVOID DECEIVING THE CONSUMER.

I may be special cause I expect corporations to follow  government guidelines. As for you, I think you are a jackass. No one said you had to respond the way you did, but you decided to,, so maybe a troll as well. I wasn't worried cause I looked at the box BEFORE I bought the **bleep** thing, and there was nothing extra listed, hell it's advertised as a stand alone system, was why I chose it over the PS VR system. Nothing I looked at mentioned even needing internet, but the computer cord listed I figured was for downloading games by PC I assumed. Guess I should NEVER  expect corporations to be easy to deal with.

So you want to be told specifically that a headset that plays online games that must be downloaded from the internet and also plays games downloaded from a standalone game store.......needs an internet connection ?. Are you trolling? Surely you're not that much of a dimwit. You are definitely looking more and more "special" with every comment. Stop digging yourself deeper into the hole you've already started. You're turning into a comedy character. πŸ˜‚ steve_40 Look at his last comment. It's a gift! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
