A better way was found without having to disable your internet for the connection via setting an outbound rule on your firewall

"Meta Quest Link isn't working correctly" error all of a sudden : r/oculus - steve_40Expert Consultant
SOLUTION: Just add a new rule to Windows Firewall to block outbound connections from OculusDash.exe, and then you won't need to disconnect the internet.

Though yes, i can get the link to work, use desktop. But when i start STEAMVR it doesnt work, same with MSFS2024, when i hit the go to VR key combo, it crashes. We need a real fix! Then please stop pushing the upgrades meta

his was the ONLY fix!
I’m seriously pissed that even with an expensive official Link cable, the connection is still unstable. I wasted so much time trying to get the Link app to work—factory-resetting the Quest, even formatting my PC.
Having to turn off the PC’s internet just to make the Link app connect is absolutely insane. I never would’ve imagined that as a solution.
Huge thanks to the person who figured this out—but honestly, I’m really angry at Meta.
