Pair Xbox Controller to Quest and Process Input in Unity

How can I pair an Xbox Controller to my Quest and process it's input within Unity? On both PC and Quest?

  • Hello there LeftoverAtoms!

Great question, one option you have to process Xbox controller inputs in Unity is to utilize the Meta XR simulator alongside Unity's input system. With this, you should be able to simulate the Meta Quest headset, controller, and hand input by mapping input from your Xbox controller within Unity. If you want to use an Xbox controller on the actual Quest device, you can pair it via Bluetooth and process its input using Unity's input system. This should work both in the Editor and on Quest hardware.

I can link some of our documentation below that should help you get started, as well as Unity's documentation regarding gamepad support. Hope this helps, and if you have any questions please feel free to let me know!
