Quest issues

Since I upgraded to the latest update with the big UI change, things got worse for some interactions.
Unknown sources tab appears and disappears from in the library menu. Sometimes is there, sometimes is not. I restart the headset, it appears.  Also, sometimes the list of the applications inside unknown sources is empty. Sometimes all my apps from there appears only after a restart.

Also, very important, when I m in one of my app, from unknown sources, normally when you point the fingers towards you and pinch, to access the hand menu, there are options to resume or quit the app. Now, in some apps, when I pinch, that menu doesn't appear and I cannot quit the applications. It never happened before this big update. Sometimes it appears, and I can press on quit, sometimes not. When I pinch and when I see the button quit, it also says "app name not available".

Does anyone encountered these issues?

Thank you.

Yes, a lot of people (even in the forums) have been reporting some instability things after the new UI update.

The “Unknown Sources” disappearing/reappearing issue seems to be a launcher/UI bug, especially in Developer Mode. I have seen that restarting temporarily fixes it for many users.

The hand-menu issue (“app name not available” + missing quit/resume) also sounds like the new system UI sometimes failing to correctly register sideloaded apps, but I have not seen that happen before.

A few things that may help:

    • Toggle Developer Mode OFF/ON from the phone app
    • Reboot after enabling it
    • Reinstall/update MQDH if you use it
    • Launch apps from MQDH instead of Unknown Sources temporarily

This feels more like a Horizon OS thing and I don't think there's an issue with your apps specifically, but it's good to try just in case.

      Thank you for your reply.

This is something I cannot understand. Worldwide, VR is not only used by individuals, at home, in perfect conditions, with the app connected, watching each update with their problems and so on. VR is used a lot in events, exhibitions, of many kinds. From one day to another, after everything worked, overnight we couldn't t open or find the apps installed on the headset, while people were waiting, live at the event. And everything because an update installed automatically overnight and to our surprise, unknown sources was not there anymore, the update changed its place.
This example happened to us 2 years ago, after an update.

Now, same thing, with the new UI update, strange things happen with unknown sources, in our exhibitions, we couldn't t use it for a while, because again that section is not there, or apps disappear.
It's very obvious that the interest is very low in making things work for developers in the same level as it is for regular consumers, but at least the updates to be properly tested.

It's the same level of lack of interest as it is for the rest of the tools made for the developers, like Meta Horizon Link, there are many google pages, videos and forum posts about the problems with Link, the Link UI it's the same since Rift.
