V81 completely broken my workflow
FTP apps (both hosting and connecting) are broken, wireless ADB is a nightmare to enable and now requires a workaround and I now cannot manually disable updates so that when more stuff breaks in the future I'll be forced to accept it. Oh, and we have one less space for a pinned app thanks to the useless Chats app. Never mind no longer being able to interact with a game while the oculus menu is visible like I could before I updated.
Meta's consistent mismanagement of their firmware, and refusal to ever allow a downgrade, means I'm contemplating selling this frankly damaged headset and will be picking up a either a Google XR or Steam Frame headset, depending on how the Frame looks next month when it's announced. God I wish hackers would bust open this headset's bootloader so that we can rollback to a cleaner, faster, more stable and more feature-complete firmware. Meta could EASILY publish older firmwares that will install on our headsets (requiring a factory reset, of course) but will never do that because they don't actually care about the consumer, only controlling our experience.
