Why I believe Meta could become the Playstation of the future that everyone will want

Hi community!

Below I’m going to share several reasons why I believe Meta, with Meta Quest, could become the game console everyone will want to own in the very near future. I don’t intend to offend anyone with this; it’s just an idea I feel strongly about:

1 - Curated game selection: When I open the Meta Horizon Store, it feels like I’m in the Google Play Store. The first impression is seeing low-quality or low-appeal titles showcased on the front page, or simply not knowing what to play because nothing looks compelling. Meta should highlight high-quality, unique, professionally-finished experiences so that any new user immediately wants to play them all. Meanwhile, experimental or beginner-level games could be placed in a secondary list, so new developers still get opportunities without diluting the main catalog.

2 - Monthly subscription similar to Game Pass: Meta could offer a monthly subscription that gives users access to a catalog of strong, high-quality games.

3 - Ability to run traditional games: The SDK could include an “Augmented Video Game Console” mode, a feature that allows traditional console-style games to run using a controller, but displayed as a huge virtual screen in your living room, with the added ability to alter your real environment based on events happening inside the virtual game screen.

4 - Meta Horizon Avatars: I’m not sure how relevant it is for every user to have a childlike avatar. I think many people, especially casual and older audiences, don’t identify with these avatars. I would focus on building a strong, desirable gaming ecosystem first, and maybe later include a more powerful system of avatars and virtual social worlds.

5 - Strong marketing push to position Meta as the future of gaming: With a catalog of truly new, never-before-seen experiences, Meta could gain strong visibility on social media through high-quality videos showcasing innovative gameplay concepts only possible on Meta Quest.

6 - Regarding point 5: the idea of a "Meta Room", a physical space featuring several themed rooms and Meta Quest stations where people can meet with friends or family and play together in a shared physical space. This could revive the spirit of old arcade venues using cutting-edge technology, while also bringing VR and AR closer to all types of audiences and age groups.

Those are my six ideas why I believe Meta, together with developers’ creativity, could drive a true paradigm shift in the world of traditional gaming.

I'd love to know what you think!

Cheers

Maybe because Quest is Android-based? They do showcase curated apps, so I don't know what you are talking about there😁.

I guess you have never heard of Horizon+. Your head must be in the sand to have missed it 😜.

    Ability to run traditional games

That's what apps that have screen mirroring, like Virtual desktop, SteamLink, QuestLink and BigScreen are for, but the games must run off your PC. Traditional games cannot run off the headset.

    Meta Horizon Avatars

You might get your wish here.

Strong marketing push to position Meta as the future of gaming

Then again, maybe not. Meta AI is the future, apparently.

the idea of a "Meta Room"

Isn't that what Hyperscape Capture is shaping up to be?

The focus on AI will be Meta's doom: quantity over quality:

Meta is instructing employees developing the Metaverse to use AI to “go 5x faster,” even though that expectation is unlikely to line up with the technology’s actual capabilities.

    🤔🤷‍♂️

Whats happen with Quest is based on Android? What I feel when I into in maketplace is zero emotion, maybe is by game portraits, market design... I don't know, but that feelings is not the same when I into in Xbox market.

About the IA...I wouldn't care too. A good use of IA as tool in the workflow save production time.

The Meta Rooms would be a real local located in all countries around the world where the people meet and play together testing with Meta Quest.

      I didn't kno about the Horizon+, I will check.

      Thank you Steve!!
