3D seems lame

I actually found the 3D on Gear VR to be pretty impressive, but maybe that's just me.

I think it really depends on the content/source. For instance, I downloaded some LG 3D demos for showing off TV's or whatever and they will make you flinch. Movies can also be hit or miss but like I said, I think a lot depends on the content itself not the GVR or lower resolution. Hope that was helpful.

I've watched plenty of movies in 3D in the Rift and find it a great experience. More so as you can have a curved screen and set a 360 image or even a VR world as a background.

Anyway, it helps if you use the highest resolution movie. I get that the Rift is only 960x1080 in each eye, but your head is moving. That means pixels get let up with different info as you head moves around creating a natural aliasing and making the movie seem more detailed that the lower pixel count suggests. Basically, try for 1080p or higher video resolution when viewing 3D movies which should help with the clarity. Set the screen to curved or equidistant to help reduce parallax. Finally, make the screen slightly bigger than your field of view as this will encourage looking around more with your head and not just your eyes which you do in a normal theater anyway.

Nuke - not talking about Rift. Not sure how you make your screen curved or any of this stuff on the Gear VR...so not sure how it applies

Personally, it's the best 3d movie experience Ive ever had. No ghosting and no dimming, just a natural 3d effect on a huge screen filling my periphery. Shrugs.

Sadly, I haven't found a method or app that I trust to pull these videos from YouTube. Any advice?

I'm surprised to see people say it's the best 3D experience they've ever had.... :lol: makes me think they haven't had any.

Can anyone tell me if a 1920x1080 3D file works fine or does it have to be 1920x540?

I actually thought the 3D was great myself. Watching Wreck it Ralph and Big Hero 6 in Oculus Cinema was awesome, I just wish it supported more audio formats and the ability to move closer/farther from the screen/center.

You can change position of the seating using the GamePad or other controller.
