Display Name Change Limit Persisting for Over 2 Months

We’ve been experiencing a persistent issue with connecting our business number to WhatsApp Business via Meta’s WhatsApp Manager. The issue has been ongoing for over 2 months now.

Specifically, the display name field is showing an error stating that we’ve reached the monthly limit for name changes. However, this message has remained unchanged for over two months, and we have not been able to make any updates or progress as a result.

  • It sounds like you're stuck in a limbo state due to a backend issue on Meta’s side where the monthly limit for WhatsApp Business display name changes isn’t resetting as it should. This is a known problem that has affected some users, especially when using Meta Business Manager > WhatsApp Manager.

    Here’s what you can do to resolve this:

    ✅ Step 1: Check Display Name Change Status

    1. Go to Meta Business Manager.


    2. Navigate to WhatsApp Manager > Phone Numbers.


    3. Click on the affected phone number.


    4. Check if there's a "Review in progress" status next to the display name or an error tooltip.

    ✅ Step 2: Try to Reinitiate the Display Name Request

    Sometimes it gets stuck and needs to be manually retriggered:

    If there's a "Reject" or "Edit" option visible, try changing the name slightly and submit it again.

    If not, proceed to support escalation.

    ✅ Step 3: Contact Meta Support (Most Important)

    This is a known issue, and Meta support must manually reset the limit or the stuck state. To contact them:

    1. Go to: https://business.facebook.com/business/help


    2. Choose “WhatsApp Business” as your product.


    3. Describe the issue briefly:

    > "We've been receiving a persistent error for over 2 months stating we've reached the monthly limit for WhatsApp Business display name changes. The limit is not resetting and we're unable to proceed. Requesting manual reset or backend fix."

     


    4. Attach screenshots showing:

    The error message

    The phone number in question

    Your business verification status (if completed)

    ✅ Step 4: Optional Workaround (Alternate Number)

    If the issue is blocking progress urgently:

    Add a new phone number under the same Business Manager account.

    Submit the desired display name for that number.

    Proceed with verification and template setup.

    Additional Notes:

    Meta enforces a 1 name change per 30 days per number, but bugs have led to this limit not resetting.

    This does not reset automatically after 30 days in some cases unless manually cleared by Meta support.
