Introducing Myself + Meta Horizon World Showcase - You Shouldn't Be Here

I'm Aisjam, and I'm looking forward to be part of the Creator Program. Thank you for having me.

I've spent the last decade working in immersive technologies, mostly with Unity, and I've recently been exploring what’s possible in Horizon Worlds. I’ve been doing a few experiments and wanted to share one that combines psychological worldbuilding with large-scale testing.

This world is inspired by real-world research from Sandia National Laboratories, where scientists explored how to deter future civilisations from approaching nuclear waste sites. Their solution wasn’t based on language but on shapes, materials, and emotional cues that create an atmosphere of dread and unease.

So I built a massive, ominous environment, a 4km diameter circular map. Using a fully custom mesh to simulate that experience. It’s designed to feel wrong, empty, and imposing, without needing to explain itself.

A few things I learned along the way:

  • Tiling textures on large polygons fade or break down visually during the experience, so texture scaling and optimisation are crucial.

  • The platform handles large spaces fairly well, though optimisation becomes increasingly important at this scale.

  • I'm really happy with how the sense of scale and isolation came through, especially at the centrepiece.

I also plan to bring in some of my synthesizer soundscapes to deepen the experience. Found its a struggle to import audio loops so did some sample stretching with the default ones. I've been creating ambient and atmospheric sounds that would fit perfectly in these types of speculative or unsettling environments so we will see what the future holds for sound on meta horizons.

The world is now live if you’d like to check it out. I’d love any feedback, especially from those interested in, environmental storytelling, or experimental space design.

Looking forward to connecting with you all and sharing more creative ideas!

  • I put this video together to showcase the world I built and share the reasons behind it. It’s more than just a space it’s was an experiment to push the technical limits of what’s possible in Meta Horizon. So I can make plans for more immersive worlds in the future.
