My first remixable game

I've broken up my space treasure hunt game into what I hope will be an easy tool kit for creating new levels. You can build elaborate star stations (with vertical elevators and horizontal transporters), hide and search for 10 different kinds of alien artifacts, find 6 different kinds of keys for lockable doors, use a simple trigger system to send both TOAST and full screen messages, display your current inventory, teleport back to your home location if you get lost or fall off a star station, build elaborate scifi rooms from a large set of controls, select from lots of different decorations (even alien rocks and trees) etc., etc.

Scifi Treasure Hunt (Remixable)

Or at least I think you can. I actually have no idea how remixable games are supposed to work. Is anyone willing to try my game out and give me feedback? I am working on the docs and video tomorrow but I'd really like feedback ASAP.

  • Sure, Kevin. Would be glad to help. Do you want someone to look at the world from the perspective of a creator (e.g. "Are these systems easy to parse / extend") or just play testing?

Ah, that is the million dollar question isn't it? Is the purpose of the new contest just to provide a well functioning game (like the other contests) or to provide assets and code that allow other people to develop well functioning games? And isn't there some tension between these goals?

Your discord doesn't accept the invite by the way. But to answer the question, I guess both.

  • I've just done a huge update and added a full game demo to my remixable game. The player starts on a bridge. In one direction is a detailed breakdown of all the assets and functionality provided, and in the other direction is a game demo level showing all the assets and code in action.
