Star Central

I'm a galactic cartographer and make maps of the Milky Way for the Gaia Mission of the European Space Agency and other groups of astronomers.

I've built a Horizon Worlds world, Star Central, that allows people to walk around some of the maps, see them in the sky, watch multimedia shows about the Milky Way and in general experience the latest knowledge we have about our home galaxy.

    Star Central is now live in Horizon Worlds!

    This includes

    • walkable galactic maps,
    • a multimedia presentation on the Local Bubble in the Star Cinema,
    • a Galactic Lookout at Messier 52 to chill out,
    • an introduction to multiwavelength skies in the Starship Academy and

    much more.

    I'm happy to get feedback. I already have lots of ideas for improvements and new features.

      Was trying out Star Central on mobile and was very impressed with the image quality. Meta did a great job engineering their Horizon Worlds mobile app

        My next part of Star Central will be to incorporate a game involving the nearest stars (within 10 parsecs or 33 light years).

        I have some ideas but I'm still working on it.
