Can't start a hyperlapse?

Hi guys,

Really loving my Meta Ray Ban Wayfarer Gen 2 glasses. The built in camera has really enabled me to take shots I'd normally miss (due to not getting my phone in time, or not bothering because of the faff).

I'm having trouble starting a hyperlapse however. Wondering if you guys can point me in the right direction?

I've tried "Hey Meta, start a hyperlapse" and "Hey Meta, record a hyperlapse".

The glasses respond by making a confirmation noise, and the recording light comes on. But it stops shortly after. If I go to my Media page I can see it's just recorded a standard 3 minute video. My glasses are on the latest firmware available, and I'm based in the UK.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hey there positivelad, thank you for your post.

We are thrilled to hear that you are looking to make the most of our new features! At this time however Hyperlapse is in its testing phase, this is to make sure that you get the best possible experience, as a result though it is only available to 50% of our users. Please be assured that we are working on making Hyperlapse available to everyone soon.

Is there an update on the timeline for this rollout?  I have gen1, it accepts the voice commands for slo mo and hyperlapse but just records normally.  How will we know when we have the update?

        Hey there AdRaz

We understand you're eager to get started on hyper lapse, but at this time we don't have a time frame of when this will be fully released. As we mentioned, this is in a testing phase and it's gradually being rolled out so that we can catch any issues to make your experience better for when you do get it!

Keep an eye out for updates and hopefully we can get this rolled out to everyone as soon as we can!

  • I’m also waiting patiently for the hyperlapse feature. As I’m aware, taking video is one of the largest battery consumption tasks that the glasses have to offer. Hyperlapse should film 30 minutes and jam it into 3 minutes. I am an electrician and I bought the glasses specifically for the hyperlapse feature. Waiting, although I haven’t received a single update yet.

  • It does seem surreal that MetaStoreHelp haven't started rolling this out to the global users.

We bought a product on the way it was advertised - this included hyper lapse and Live AI - neither of which we've got.

They really need to rethink how they develop and deliver updates.

Strongly agree. At the very least it would be nice to see some consistent updates to our glasses battery management. I’ve been pretty bummed, due to the fact that I’m not sure if I’m so confident that they will be putting out updates rather than releasing a Gen 2 display in the upcoming year and leave the V1 users outdated and in the dust. I use my glasses a lot, though the battery management is very tedious to follow. I’ll have instances where the battery is at 35-50% and captures will be disabled due to low battery life. This wearable has soooo much potential, but will they pursue the potential it already has with updates or will they abandon it and create new like they did with the RB Stories.

  • It is weird too cause I have been able to do hyperlapse in the past and now can not.
