Yes, I know, the first image isn't really 1:1 but it's definitely different than the other. And, the exact same thing just happened with video. Two captures, one right after another, one is full-screen vertical, the other is less than full screen. WTF? TIA...

We see here that you are wondering why the photos you took appear to have different aspect ratios. We would be happy to help answer this question for you.
The reason why the photos appear in different aspect ratios is because, when a hair or finger blocks a little bit of the camera lens while taking a picture, it will automatically crop out whatever is blocking the camera and therefore appear as a different aspect ratio than the picture before, as there may not have been something blocking the camera in the first picture.

Hey Kevin,
That's the automatic improvement.
To change this go to settings-> device settings -> media -> improvement on recordings (or something like that. I have German language) and there you will find two sliders where you can enable or disable the autocrop feature.
