Streaming from Meta Ray-Bans to WhatsApp disabled?

This used to work great for me when I first got the glasses a few months ago. Double click the capture button while on a WhatsApp call to stream video from the glasses rather than the phone. Now nothing happens, the glasses just take a photo. Also I don't see a prompt in either app telling me that the feature is available, which I'm pretty sure I used to see.

Has the functionality been removed, and of so why? It was such a killer feature!

App v. 177.1.0.9.109 and yes, I have WhatsApp enabled in communication settings

  • I have the same issues and I am trying to figure out how to fix this.  I have cleaned the Whatsapp App, I have ubpaored and repaired, restarted my phone and nothing.  Help?

  • Thanks for the confirmation that it isn't just me. I've filed a support ticket with Meta so hoping for some kind of guidance from that. I'll post on here when I hear back from them.

  • It's strange because this just happened recently (maybe two days ago). I used the feature a couple of days ago without any issues. Thanks for filing a support ticket; I'm eager to find out what happened. I'm sure Meta will fix this soon since they want more users in the US to start using WhatsApp, as it's more widely used overseas. I'm an avid WhatsApp user, so I practically live on it.

I just received my glasses and I also can't get the WhatsApp POV sharing to work, the glasses icon just doesn't show up. The connection to Instagram is still working fine though.

Also according to the WhatsApp FAQ, you don't even need the connection in the Meta View app to WhatsApp for this to work, so it shouldn't be related to that:

You can also share your view from your glasses camera during a WhatsApp audio or video call. You can do this by double tapping the physical capture button on glasses during a call.
You can use this feature even if you haven't linked WhatsApp in the Meta View app. To enable sharing your view, tap the glasses icon during your next video call for instructions.

  • Reply finally came in from Meta and sadly it isn't very helpful:

"Yes, that feature should be working since it was a feature before the latest version was released. However, if this case was not resolved by the troubleshooting provided before, we highly recommend reaching out to Ray-ban support because we are unable to help with all issues with smart glasses. Please reach out to Ray-Ban Support for warranty support here: https://www.ray-ban.com/usa/contact-us."

The Ray-Ban partnership on this device was a great move in terms of providing glasses with style and desirability but it would be a shame if it resulted in both companies blaming each other for bugs. To me, this really doesn't feel like a Ray-Ban issue. Surely it's software related and specifically due to the Meta View app?

  • I have the same issue and its extemely annoying, it only works in messenger calls and instagram and facebook live

  • It is like a software update might have affected that feature. Sometimes, updates can change how certain functions work or even remove them temporarily. It might be worth checking if there’s a firmware update for the glasses or any new Law settings in the app that could have reset the feature.

  • That’s annoying! It might be due to an update or settings change. Try reinstalling the apps or resetting the glasses to see if it fixes the issue. Hopefully, it’s just a glitch!
